Percy was hanging on the ledge, gripping Annabeth's hand. Jason was about to set Piper on the ship when he saw a chance to grab Annabeth and let Percy fall. He swooped down, Piper still in his arms, and grabbed Annabeth. He couldn't hold both of the girls. He made a choice. He dropped Piper. Percy, still hanging on the ledge, told Nico something. Then he let go. He fell after Piper into the pit Tartarus.
