14. Life is short

Selana's dad's pov


I greeted Mandy and Brian and then I walked straight towards that Harry guy. I was really angry. My daughter was fighting for her life and it was all because of him. I saw him waking up and stood in front of him. I grabbed him by his shirt and pulled him up so that he was face to face with me.

"YOU ARE THE REASON FOR ALL OF THIS AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET AWAY WITH THIS." I shouted in his face. He seemed surprised but I didn't care, I was furious.

He got over the initial surprised and seemed really calm. "Sir, if I could turn back time I would and I would stop Selena from rushing in front of me."

"But you can't" I answered still angry.

"I assure you that I would do anything right now to change positions. I would much rather have me fighting for my like or even dying and Selena sitting right here instead of what is happening." He continued explaining. The fact that he said that he would die as long as Selena was in here.

"I understand that you couldn't do anything about it. I just hope for the best right now. I can't lose my little girl." I said. I slowly got up and walked away.



Harry's Pov


After that little scene with Selena's dad I sat down. I took out my phone and looked at the time. Wow! I had slept quite a long time. I realized that Selena would come out of surgery in a while and I could not do this alone. I decided to call Liam and tell him to come cause I needed him and the boys. I looked over to Demi and saw that she was awake now. I walked over to her and sat next to her.

"I can't lose her." I said and I started crying again. I'm not one to cry this much but just the thought of losing my Selena is breaking my heart. "How are you so strong?" I asked Demi actually curious.

"I'm not strong. The thought of losing Selena is hurting me very much too, but I know that I need to be strong for her. She would want me to sit here and be strong for her parents" she explained "and you." Demi added.

"You know, you are very strong. I don't know how you do it but you inspire me."

"I owe it to Selena. She was there for me when I needed her and she was very strong for me also."

I smiled at her and then turned my head to see that all the guys were coming in.

I walked over to Niall and said "I approve of your girlfriend mate." I said and it was the first time I really smiled in a long while.

The doctor walked through a pair of white door and we all got up. Her mum was in her husbands arms and I was left here staring at the doctor.
Liam came up to me and put his had over my shoulder as if to say 'everything will be alright'.

"I have good news and bad news." The doctor began. I bent my head down. "The good news is that Selena made it through her surgery just fine." He said and everyone let out a breath that they were holding, including me. "The bad news is that she is not stable yet and we can't do anything about this. It is out of our reach now. We just have to believe in Selena." I felt a tear roll down my cheek. But there was something in the way that he said it that gave me a speck of hope. Maybe it was the fact that he said that we have to let Selena fight now and we have to believe in her and I really did believe in her.

Her parents and her dad went inside and first. I sat back down on the chair and thought. I had to be strong for Selena. If I was strong for her maybe that would help her. I hate that I can't help her now but I have faith in her that she won't leave me. Her parents then came out and said that some people could go inside now.

I turned to Liam and asked him "Can I go?" I felt like a baby but I needed Liam.

"Of course Hazza. Do you want to go alone?" He asked in a soothing tone that made me calmer. I nodded a bit and then walked towards the room. I looked at the number, 218. I stood right in front of the door. I had to be strong for Selena. I was going to be her soldier. I walked in and saw her sitting on the bed with a lot of wires and IVs and stuff hooked up to her. I sat next to her and held her hand. I rubbed her hand and started talking to her even thought she was asleep.

"Hey Selly Welly." I looked at her and felt like crying but then I remembered my promise. I was going to be her soldier. "I'm so so so sorry for this. I wish I was the one laying on this bed, not you." I continued. I then felt her hand squeeze mine and looked at her. She was slowly opening her eyes."

"Hi Harry Barry." She said and smiled. Her voice was scratchy.

"Don't talk baby. Do you want me to call your parents and the doctor?" I asked doing my soldier duties. She nodded and I walked put coming back after a minute with her parents and the doctor.

Her mum walked straight up to her and hugged her with tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Don't cry mummy." She said again with the same scratchy voice. I handed her a cup of water that was sitting next to her bed and she smiled gratefully at me. She looked around and then her eyes landed on her dad.

"Daddy!" She exclaimed and her smile grew wider.

"Hi baby girl." He said and hugged her. I saw that he was really protective of her and he loved her so much. She did too. The thing is, if you are far from your parents you learn to appreciate them more.

We sat there until the doctor came in and informed us that Selena was stable and she would be slowly getting better but it needed time. He also said that we had to go and one person could stay tonight with her.

"Mum you should go, you look extremely tired." Sel said.

"I don't want to leave you alone." She said being motherly. Selena looked at me and I new soldier duties were calling.

"I'll stay with her tonight." I said suddenly. She smiled at me and thanked me.

They all slowly left and I was left alone with Selena. This didn't feel at all like a duty. It was were I wanted to be. I sat on a very uncomfortable chair but I would not complain because just hours ago Selena was fighting for her life and it just seemed stupid to complain about a chair.

"Can you lie down with me." Sel said and patted a space next her on the bed. I got up and lied down on the bed. We lied in silence for a while and then she suddenly said "Hazza, I'm scared."

"What are you scared of baby." I asked in a calm voice.

"What if something happens to me? I don't want to leave this world. There are so many things that I want to so that I haven't."

"Nothing is going to happen to you. I'm here, I'm your soldier and I'm not going to let anything hurt you." I told her and kissed her forehead. "And as for the things you want to do, well as you realized life is short so grab every chance you have about what you want to do." I said and I was actually surprised at my own answer.

"What if there is a chance to do something now?" She asked and I was a bit confused but still followed my own advice.

"Grab it." I said and the next thing I knew was that Selena's face was coming closer to mine. She wanted to kiss me. I closed my eyes and she did too and we both came even closer.

I felt her lips on my lips and I was starting to like this very much. Suddenly the door opened and light lit up somebody's face. I looked and saw Justin standing in the doorway with tears in his eyes.

So I've updated!!! I think I'm getting a bit better at updating :) So MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!! The next update will probably be in 2014 so have a happy new year also!!!

Btw sorry for any mistakes and stuff, I wrote this on the airplane on my way to London. OH YES, I'M IN LONDON BITCHES :P no I'm JK thank you for reading voting commenting following me etc... <3
