"I just want to get this out of the way right now. I'm in love with someone else and I'm only marrying you because I am forced to."

Joe's face fell. He had only met this boy once and he was expected to get married to him. It was how his society worked, parents pick a spouse and you get married you have no choice. It wasn't like Joe was completely against this match, he just wanted to leave this abusive household for once. His real parents died years ago and he was taken in by a family who basically just treated him as a servant.

But that's a story for a different time.

Right now he was standing here, five minutes away from getting married to a boy who obviously hates him. Joe was starting to regret the decision of owners.

He didn't know what he expected really, his so called parents gave him away to the highest bidder, the family that offered the highest dowery. He hoped, wished for maybe someone who could come to care about, at least a little, but no, instead he was left with someone who didn't even want to talk to him.

💔💔💔💔💔 (No idea how this is going to come out on anything except for google docs but lets just go for it)

The vows were painfully awkward. Caspar didn't look at Joe once, he only sadly glazed at the blonde standing in the corner with tears trickling down her face. Joe didn't know where to look so he look straight ahead, at his sister coincidently.

She just looked at him in pity, she never had to go through that, she got to pick her match, their 'parents' loved Zoe and hated Joe for some unknown reason and they both knew it based on how they were treated at home.

Zoe was always there for Joe at home, she had the bigger room, she actually had a bed, and she cared about him. She was always there to tend to his cuts and bruises, or sneakily help out with Joe's chores even though she wasn't supposed to. The last three years at his house were the worst for him, ever. Zoe had moved out of their family home and into a home with her now husband, Alfie. Joe went through everything, ten times worse, and alone. He hoped this marriage would change something for him, but now he wasn't too sure.

💔💔💔💔💔

It was the day after the wedding, in their new apartment that Caspar's parents so generously gave them.

" They only gave us one bed and I sure as hell am not going to share with you."

That was the only thing that Caspar had said to him after the vows and then proceeded to go straight down into the bedroom that they were supposed to share, and locked the door.

Joe raised his hand to knock on the door, just as Caspar opened it.

"What's for breakfast?" Caspar stated without even looking at him.

"I haven't made anything yet, would you like something?"

"Obviously why else would I ask, and hurry it up would you, my girlfriend is coming over."

You would assume that once you got married you would break up with your girlfriend but no, Caspar didn't.
So Joe did what he was asked, because that was he knew how to do.

The doorbell rang and Caspar ran up to answer it. A blonde girl walks in, the same one from yesterday and jumps into Caspar's arms.

"Hey babe, how are you? Are you thirsty? Do you want anything? Joe get her a glass of water."

"I-uh-okay." Was all Joe could say.

He handed a glass to the girl -Gaby- and walked downstairs.

"Don't go into my room!" Caspar called behind him.

Joe sighed. He took out his phone scrolling through the continuous flow of 'congrats' and 'I wish I could come' until he got to the messages from his sister

Zoe: How are you? You seemed quite upset yesterday. I'm here for you Joe call me if you need anything, ever. Xx

Joe forgot how much he loved his sister. He was, in fact just about to tell her exactly that, when a voice drifted down from the vent on the ceiling.

"I can't believe your parents picked him over me Casypoo. We would be so much better together, don't you think?"

"Of course babe, we would be way better together than me and him would ever be."

"I know! He's such an obedient slave isn't he? Always listening to my Casypoo."

Joe felt his heart shudder. There was really no reason for him to feel like that, it wasn't as though he needed her confirmation, he just wished his husband didn't agree.
