Screams of pain echoed down the hallway. Dan ran down the hall and burst into Phil's room filled with anxiety.

"Phil!" He cried, "What's happening?"

Phil turned around. Dan stepped back in shock. Tears were running down his now scaly face and he slowly flapped his arms that had now formed into majestic pigeon wings.

"I'm sorry... Dan..." Phil globbered slowly, "I need... To go..."

Dan rushed over and cradled him.

"It's not your fault," he whispered as he sobbed slightly.

Phil let out another screech as he became his true form. His head and upper body became similar to that of a goldfish and one of his legs became thinner and thinner until it was a pigeon's- like his wings that were once arms. Tears were now streaming down his face.

"Water..." Phil murmured breathlessly.

"Don't worry! I will release you!" Dan hugged the mutant creature- however ugly he had became.

After their drive the Brighton, the two stepped out of the car. Holding wing in hand, the pair traveled down to the sea together. Dan knew he had to make the most of his last moments with his life companion. Together, they took off their shoes. The sand was soft beneath their feet.

"Phil... I will miss... M-miss y-you." Dan stumbled whilst quietly weeping.

Phil stroked his face with his stinking pigeon wings.

"Glob glob."

He waded into the ocean.

"Y-you promise to come back, right?" Dan wiped away his tears and Phil nodded.

"G-glob b-b-blob" were Phil's last words as he dived into the deeper waters, occasionally flapping.

To this day, Dan has never seen him again. In his mind, he can still image the emotion deep in the fishy creature's bulbous eyes.

Until today.

There was a simple knock at the door. Dan calmly walked over, thinking it was the postman. He opened the door.

"Glob."
