trigger warning, stay strong lovelies. ily

enid had just arrived at the boy's house. carl's mom ordered them a pizza to share. his mom was really happy for him that he made a friend.

"we need to get out more" enid laughed, as she shoved a piece of pizza into her mouth.

"losers forever" carl giggled.

"would you want to go the movies tomorrow?" enid asked him, "i think that new movie 'the fault in our stars' is out."

"i really wanted-d to see that" carl replied.

"we should go see it tomorrow morning." enid commented.

"i-i don't know, i get rea-ally nervous in public." carl shuddered.

"i understand" she told him. "it's okay to be nervous" she added.

"anxiety-y sucks." carl sighed.

"i can tell, although i don't really know the feeling. i've been mostly on my own my whole life" remarked enid.

"you've been alone?" carl asked.

"yeah" she answered. "carl?"

"yes?"

"let me tell you story about myself" she said.

"of course. i'll listen." carl responded.

"it means a lot. nobody has ever listened."

the feminine boy was concerned. he wanted to know all about enid.

"i'll always be-e here to listen" carl smiled.

"thank you. anyways let's start" she said.

carl nodded.

"i haven't... wow, i've never told anyone about myself." enid looked down.

"hey-, hey, i'm here. you can trust me. you do not have to say anything unless you want to. it's really hard to talk about how you feel. i've been in silence my whole life-e, basically." carl assured enid.

"that just touched my heart."

carl smiled.

"i can do this." enid said.

"yes-s, yes you can."

"so, my dad's been, uh. oh my god, this is freaking hard to discuss" enid stated.

"it's okay, i-i have faith in you."

she smiled back at the listening boy.

"my dad's been in prison for years, since i was around 5." she started.

carl gasped, also wishing his dad would rot in a cell.

"he's, uh.. done some bad things." she added.

"you do not-t have to mention them, if you don't want to" carl assured her.

"well.. don't think anything of me, i'm not like him" she declared.

"just because he-e may be bad, you-ou aren't" carl replied.

"he sold drugs.. killed multiple.. god, he's just horrifying. i question if he's actually my dad sometimes." she said. "i haven't seen him in years. thankfully."

"aw enid" carl frowned.

"my mom is dead" she stated. "drugs.."

carl started crying, he felt so bad for her.

"she used-d to hit me" enid sniffled.

"enid-d, oh my god, come here" he hugged her.

she was now sobbing, "hey-y, it's okay to cry. i-i always do" carl commented.
