Megumi Tadokoro was, by nature, a very timid girl. Likewise, her mother held the same personality trait. So it wasnt particularly fun when they both had to make the long trek towards the Polar Star Dorms with a fuming red-head and another of the same color unconsciously egging her on.

"- and then I won, I never knew school was this much fun!" He said, one hand scratching the back of his head whilst the other dragged his aunt's suitcase. Her face twisted impossibly more black, smoke seemingly streaming out of her ears as she gave her nephew a wordless kick to the back of the knees - spewing words of 'unfilial long-legged brat' and 'not calling home, just going out and partying' followed by 'just chop off your legs already'.

At the middle comment, Megumi's ears perked up a little. Partying? Soma? Her own face scrunched in concentration as she tried to remember what the boy had done in the past few weeks. Other than preparing for this Shokugeki event, she hadn't seen much of Soma even leaving the Polar Star Dorm. Perhaps his aunt was referring to the orientation party that the dorm had thrown? But that was so long ago...

It took Megumi maybe a few more minutes before she came up with the slightest possibility that maybe, just maybe - Kaede had no idea what her nephew was studying.

No. She shook her head, as if that would erase the mental image in her mind. Soma did the entrance exam for Totsuki Culinary Academy. He would of had at least three letters sent home with that title printed quite boldly on the front cover. Naturally his aunt, who Soma said had lived with him for ten years would of known that..

Now, as the audience, we already know how spot on Megumi is. Kaede in fact, did not know that Soma had enrolled to attend Totsuki Culinary Academy because Joichiro had signed Soma up for that school before he left - meaning all Kaede really knew was that Soma was going to be going to transfer to a prestigious school (even with his abysmal grades) and it was in Tokyo, so he'd have to move there as well. It was so last minute that Kaede had no time to even ask which school he was transferring to, having to pack his things for him (he didn't need his portable smoker, no matter how much he tried to justify it), fill out all the paperwork from his previous high school and send out a notice that the restaurant would be closed till further notice.

Hence, it was a rather nasty surprise when Kaede actually found out.
