Lyric and I walk down stairs into the living room to see five boys wrestling on the floor. "GUYS! Why does it always turn to this when we get together?" Lyric yells over all of the moaning and groaning of the boys on the floor. Not even noticing that I am in the room they look up at Lyric, then at each other and shrug.
"Melody is going to watch the game with us tonight so please try to contain your rough housing for just a little while, please." They finally look in my direction and Jason jumps up.
"Baby Girl! How are you? Do I need to beat that prick up for you?" Jason is the only one that even has the slightest interest in me. He is about Lyrics height with light brown hair and gorgeous green eyes. He is on the football, basketball and baseball team also. He is nicely built. Now looking at him I have never noticed how beautiful he is. He has the perfect features. He is the guy that every girl wants but he is very picky on what he picks. I am surprised that he doesn't just hook up with any girl who greets him like most of the senior class. Jason has been my brothers best friend since the first grade when Lyric tried to steal Jason's crazy pen.
"Hey Jace, I'm alright. No I don't want you to touch him. I want to fight this by myself, thank you though." " If you need me you know where to find me" He replies. "Yea... My Couch." I start to giggle as the boys start to oh at him for my burn. "Baby Girl that hurts" he says while holding his heart.
The boys laugh at us as we go back and forth at each other like we always do. "Wow Jason you got yourself a feisty one there don't you?" Jason wraps his arm around my waist and replies "I sure do don't I." "uh no I'm not with him." I add. "OOOOOHHHHH!!!!" all of the boys start yelling.
"Lets watch the game now please?" I ask. Lyric looks at me with an apologetic look and nodded. The game start and the boys are so into it that I don't have to worry about them messing with me.
My mind starts to wander. My chest starts to become tight. Why did he break one of the most important promises that he gave me. He gave up on us. I very distinctly remember a promise being made to me that he wouldn't give up on us. That he would always fight and that no matter what he wouldn't be able to actually never talk to me again. Now it seems that he hates me for what I apparently didn't do. He told me that I wasn't fighting for us and that I was giving up on us. I had no power over what happens seconds before the decision was made. He gave up on us months before, you can't try to make up for everything in one night. It just wont work. I love him and I hate that I still love him but I just cant help it. It has to be this way.
"Baby Girl? Why are you crying?" Jason whispers to me. I look up and wipe the tears away "Im going to get me some water." "Ill go with you." he replies. We get up and go to the kitchen. "Why are you still crying over that jerk. He isn't worth your tears. You shouldn't be letting it get to you."
"I just don't understand why it still hurts. I cant get him out of my head its like he is a tattoo that I cant get covered up." my eyes begin to water up and Jason pulls me in for a hug and tells me "Mel you are every guys dream. You are the girl every guy wants to wake up to and be able to kiss good morning and rub her belly while she carries his children. Please don't cry anymore Baby Girl." Jason looks me in the eyes while telling me this. My heart starts to race and I get butterflies in my stomach. Does he think of me like that? Of course not I've known him since the first grade. He is my twins best friend, he would never think of me in that manner.
Lyric walks into the room at that time and I turn away and go to get my drink. I can feel my face heat up at what Jason just told me. No one could think of me like that I mean I'm invisible to everyone at school. Everyone knows me as Lyrics twin there is no way they would even give me a second though or a first at that. "What is taking y'all so long?" Lyric asks. "I was just cheering my favorite girl ever." Jason replies to his best friend." "Is this true Mel?" Ly asks skeptically. "Yea, it is." I reply. He nods and we all walk out and back into the living room.
By the end of the game I was dead tired and just wanted to go to bed. I was just done with today. I had a lot of things to think about and I don't think that I am ready for that. I tell the boys goodnight and go up stairs. The second my head hits the pillow I am out like a light.
