The Beanstalk

I also wrote this when I was young, for a school project. I thought it was funny then...but it's obviously not.

A seed is planted

The weathervane spins

Something green shoots out

A rooster crows, cows moo

The sprout gets bigger

Thicker and thicker

More vines twist around

The huge, fat beanstalk

A cow nibbles, then

Swallows a leaf or two

As the beanstalk rises,

so does the cow.

Soon the beanstalk

is miles high

So is the cow

Soon the beanstalk

is meters wide

So is the cow

Finally, the beanstalk

Pushes through the clouds

So does the cow

A giant, fearsome ogre

Cowers in fear

At the sight of

Such a humongous animal

And drops his freshly picked veggies

The cow eats the veggies

(and the ogre, too)

And steps on his castle

Surprisingly,

The clouds hold his weight

The sun sets, the stars come out

Then...

He mooed

"Hey, Diddle Diddle!"

A cat named Diddle Diddle

Came out and played the fiddle

The giant cow jumped over the moon

As Diddle Diddle's friend laughed

The ogre's dish ran away with his spoon!
