The end is near, lovelies! So enjoy
"You can do this, Isa, no problem. You just go in there with your head held high; they probably don't know anything anyways..." I sighed and slammed my head against the wheel of my car. I removed it just as quickly however, because I had accidently hit the horn making it blast across the nearly empty parking lot. It was full of cars but most people tended not to linger around as the wind was pretty cold, the few people who were here turned their heads towards my car immediately.
Just my luck.
Trying to stop myself from attracting more attention to me I mentally kicked myself in the butt and hurled myself out of the car. I did it quite literally, although looking back I maybe should have been more composed since I almost slammed my door into another car in the process, and I almost face planted with the ground whilst I was stumbling out. It would have been a sad sight to see, on the other hand it the ground was probably the only thing willing to kiss me at this moment.
I wouldn't want to kiss myself.
Sad, I know.
I straightened my back and raised my head to see if anyone had witnessed my pathetic attempt of getting out of my car – it seemed to the only thing I could do with the elegance of a dancer was exactly that; dance. And occasionally walk. Luckily, there were only a few people around and it didn't seem that more than a few had noticed, so with that slightly calming thought I received my bag and proceeded to walk towards the entrance.
You know in movies when the girl everyone hates walk through the hallway and every stop what they're doing and just stare at her? That's what it felt like as soon as the school doors closed behind me, and I was left facing what seemed like a thousand wolves with no way out. Of course I know that not everyone stared and that the hallway wasn't dead silent, but in that moment I was the girl in the movies. The one everyone talk about behind her back, the one they used to love but whom they now hate. Reality isn't as black and white as movies, but in that moment the world seemed colorless.
So I did what I had promised myself not to do. I bowed my head and looked down at my shoes, careful not to meet anyone's eyes. I then grabbed the straps of my bag so tight that my knuckles turned white, and proceeded to make my way to my locker.
And when I got there it was empty. Well, not exactly empty because all my books and stuff was still in it, but there was no one in front of it. The girls weren't there like they usually were, waiting for me to hear all about some ridicules make-up or some cute celebrity. Things I used to not want to hear, but right now I would give everything for hearing them talk my ear off.
For a short moment I even wished Landon was there just so that I wouldn't be alone, but I quickly threw that thought far away from my mind. However, it appeared that I hadn't been quick enough since Landon in that moment rounded the corner, and made a beeline towards me. He was alone, none of his friends were with him.
Panicking, I hastily opened up my locker and tried to hide myself behind the door, pretending that I was looking for something in the far back of my locker. I would have run but I felt like that would have been too obvious, and I would have attracted even more attention to myself.
So I waited and listened, and what I heard were footsteps gradually becoming louder and louder. People had begun talking amongst themselves a few minutes ago, but even through the noise it was clear who the footsteps belonged to.
It didn't take much more than five seconds before the footsteps came to a halt beside me, and if I wasn't wrong the slight noise also died down quite a bit. People were interested in hearing what was going to go down between Landon and I, but whereas the thought had never made me nervous before, it certainly did now.
