Preface

Her voice was beautiful, like something out of a dream. She called my name "Ara...Ara, listen to me child your world is going to change, its going to get better then suddenly horrible things will start happening. Stay with me child you know who I am and you know that I am good. Feel me and know that I love you child. Keep faith in me an you will accomplish everything on your path. Are you still listening?"

I didn't know if I was going crazy or if this was really happening to me, so I said "I am listening."

"Good, now I shall tell you what must do for me. Your sister will be born very soon, she is very special, for she's been blessed by me."

Chapter 1

It was a cool spring evening, the clouds were rolling in and I could feel the damp air suddenly becoming thicker. The thickness of the air was making it hard for me to keep up, it moved so fast, running, running, and the finally stopped. About 30 yards ahead of me was the biggest buck I'd seen all season. I drew my arrow "swoosh" right into the heart of the deer. Clean, quick, and silent. How my hunting party could think guns were better was beyond me. In the time it had taken me to sprint over to the deer it had started to pour. I radioed for my hunting party, I could hear Justin yelling in the back ground "She lost already?", ignoring him I gave Lance my location and started work on the deer.

After 20 minutes and lots of rope tying the boys finally caught with me. I could hear Justin cursing under his breath, Lance pulled me up and gave me his jacket, Lance had been my friend forever, he taught me to hunt but I had always been better with a bow. It took me, all 5 guys and 2 dogs to get the deer back to the truck and loaded.

On the way home I sat in the back thinking about my family. Where were they were they safe? I couldn't help but feel guilty, like I had let them down. I know I chose to leave but I still miss them. I could hear Lance on the phone over my headphones but paid no attention. I was looking out the window and saw a movement, something large and black was running just inside the tree line of the forest. I blinked and it was gone, hmm, I thought, it nothing just your imagination.

We finally made it to the cabin we were renting for the season.

"Ara?" Lance had gotten out of the truck and was standing next the tailgate getting ready to start on the deer "How bout you go in and throw some pizza in the oven and we will handle the deer"

I looked at him and nodded I had never been one for the skinning and bleeding. As walked up the stairs to the front door I thought about what I saw in the forest. Was it a bear or a large wolf? As I made the pizzas, they boys came in and took showers. Justin came in and sat at the bar across from where I was standing.

" Hey Ara " Justin had been trying to get me to go out with him for a very long time, but I couldn't date not with the life I live.

"What's up Justin?" I said rolling my eyes knowing exactly what was up.

"Well, Ara, when are you and I gonna give it a shot?" He said with a smirk.

"How about never Justin!" He was really starting to bug me about this. Just as he was about to say something Lance and Keith came in.

"Justin why do you insist on bugging Ara?" Lance said coming around and brushing my hair outta my face. "you ok Ara?"

"Just tired." I said smiling a weak smile. "Go up stairs try and sleep. I can handle the rest and clean up"

" Ok goodnight."

"Ring.......Ring......Ring" I reached for my phone and saw a number I didn't recognize.

"Hello?"

"Ara? Ara is that you?"

"Ariel?" I sat bolt up right in the bed .

"Ara" she sounded panicked "We need you, please hurry. He's coming!"

"Where are you?"

"Seattle, please Ara, we need you!"

I felt like I couldn't move fast enough. I raced through the cabin grabbing all my things and down to the basement to grab the weapons I had stashed there. I had to get to Seattle as fast as possible. My sister kept calling me to see if I had left yet. I was writing a note to Lance when I saw a movement outside. I walked to the table where a crossbow lay and grabbed it as I opened the door I loaded the bow. I could see a shadow moving near the tree and knew it had to be a person, as I stepped closer the man stepped from within the shadows, as he came around the tree I realized that he was stark naked.

"Oh my'' I said feeling the heat rise in my face.

"I don't mean to startle you ma'am but I was just lookin for shelter from the cold rain."

"Well it would be the right thing to do, come on in.''

After finding some clothes for the strange man and making sure he was warm, we sat down in living room so I could figure out who he was.

"Who are you and where did you come from?" he was stunning with bright blue green eyes and a smile that could possibly melt my frozen heart.

"Well ma'am my name is Ryder. I'm a former marine and I'm not exactly sure how I got up here, I mean I just woke up out here." He looked like a lost puppy with sad eyes, it made me feel something for the first time in a year, since I had left my family. Before I could figure out what he was making me feel Justin came down the stairs, it wasn't until he was standing right next to me that I realized he had a knife in his hand.

"Can I help you?" I said nonchalantly ignoring the knife.

"Who's this" he said sounding like a territorial dog "and why is here?"

"This is Ryder and found him outside cold and wet so I helped him because it's the right thing to do!" He was getting angry.

"Can I talk you for a minute in the kitchen?" he said grabbing my arm and pulling me towards the kitchen. As we entered the kitchen I yanked my arm out of his grasp.

"What is your problem?" yelling up into his face.

"Don't you think it's kind of strange that he just founds us in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains in Georgia?"

"He was lost Justin, chill out! I'll take him with me when I leave!!"

"Leave? Where are you going? AND you can't take a stranger with you!!!!" He was standing over me as Lance and Keith came stumbling downs the stairs.

"Why in the hell are you talking to her like that Justin?" Lance was angry and protective like a big brother except for the fact that I was about three inches taller than him.

"She wants to leave with some guy she found in the woods. Tell her she can't leave!" Lance knew better he knew about my sister and my past, he'd seen the effects of my nightmares and heard my blood chilling screams.

"Dude, I'm not telling her anything, this girl can take care of herself, I promise!"

"Man, have you met the ten foot tall mammoth out in the living room? He's three times her size!" Lance was shaking his head.

"Man, I promise she can kick all our asses, all at once." I looked at Lance with a thank you nod and headed back to the living room as I turned away from the boys Justin grabbed my shoulder to pull me back, so I reached up, grabbing his hand flipping him up and over my shoulder making him land on his back, and with one swift movement I had the knife from my boot pressed against his jugular.

"Can she take care of her self, Justin?" Lance said with a chuckle.

"I guess she can.'' Justin said getting up and pulling me up with him, I took a step backwards when Ryder entered the room

"That was impressive are you military?" I looked at him with a slight smile.

"No just trained, and your coming with me. I'll drop you off where ever you want to stay."
