Chapter 1
A little girl sat in front of the fire place in her home. She listened carefully to her mother reading out a bed-time story. The story was frightening and the main character resembled the little girl in many ways. The little girl in front of the fireplace had chocolate brown hair with bright golden eyes. She wore a green nightgown that had frills at the ends and a ribbon in the middle. The little girl tightly held a white blanket around her small body, as her mother read out a scary scene,
“-Evannia? Are you alright? Would you like me stop?” her mother asked softly, as Evannia shook her head.
“n-no it-it’s fine…Carry on, I want to know what happens to Lyra and Sienna,” Evannia lied. She did want her mother to stop, but curiosity got the better of the little girl. Her mother gave her a nod, and began reading again,
““Lyra faced the cloaked man with fear, as he held a stone cold knife at Sienna’s neck. Hot warm tears slid down Sienna’s cheeks as the knife pressed closer to her throat. Her whole body shook in fear and pain as a drop of red blood slid down her neck.
“Lyra…” Sienna called, as more tears streamed down her face, “…Run-”
SLASH- Sienna’s head fell to the ground with a quiet thump, as Lyra began running. Flashbacks of Sienna’s death crossed Lyra’s mind. The blood squirting out of Sienna’s neck and dripping to the ground. Her severed head falling to the ground along with her body. Blood surrounding the body and head making a pool of blood. The thing that scared Lyra the most, was the cloaked man. She was afraid of what will happen to her after he’d caught her. Sienna was the 4th friend of Lyra’s to get killed by that cloaked man. Every time Lyra’s friend’s died, each one of their deaths were more brutal than the person who died before them. Since Lyra was the last of her friends alive, her death would probably a very brutal one. Suddenly, Lyra stopped running and her eyes widened. How could he get here so fast? wasn’t he just behind Lyra? In-front of Lyra stood the cloaked man holding a new weapon in his hands.
“What do you want with me!?” Lyra asked, as she stepped back. “Why did you kill my friends!? Why do you want to kill me!?” The man didn’t respond, instead he pulled off the hood that covered his face. Lyra’s eyes widened and hot tears streamed down her pale cheeks.
“Why-? Why would you-?” Lyra stuttered as the man in-front of her smirked,
“You know, I’ve always wanted to kill you… Lyra ” The cloaked man who stood in-front of her, holding a wicked smirk. The cloaked man who killed her best friends. The cloaked man holding a chainsaw in his pale hands. The cloaked man who wanted to kill Lyra was-”
SLAM- Evannia’s mother stopped reading the book as she heard the door open.
“What’s wrong, mother?” Evannia asked, as she noticed fear in her mother’s eyes.
“Darling, I have no time to explain, but you need to hide,” Evannia’s mother said, as Evannia stood up and followed her mother to a book shelf. Evannia’s mother then pushed the book shelf to the side to reveal a secret passage.
“I want you to find a way outside and run as fast as you can away from here. After your far away enough, there is a map at the back of this book and I want you to follow it. Promise me that you will never come back here and promise me to never read what happens in this story. Okay?” Evannia’s mother asked, as Evannia nodded and hugged her mother. “I won’t be coming back, Evannia. So be a good girl for me.”
“I will, mother. I will. I’ll miss you very much. Goodbye,” Evannia said, as she held the tears in. Her mother smiled at Evannia before kissing her daughter’s forehead.
