Everything was silent as a cold wind blew past the darkened house on the hill. The stillness of the night air was interrupted by the screaming of a woman.
"Lucas you are a MONSTER!!!!" The woman yelled into the night. The woman came running out of the house followed by a worn-looking man.
"Rose, just listen to me," he exclaimed as she ran down the driveway.
"No, Lucas you are a monster, experimenting on our children!" She yelled at him before climbing into the car that sat on the curb.
"You don't understand Rose I had to. If I hadn't Demi would've died." the man replied trying hard to have his wife...ex-wife...see what he meant, that he had meant no harm to their children.
"Then why did you have to experiment on Dawson as well?" She inquired.
"They have a connection, Rose. It wouldn't have worked right if I hadn't."
"I should've known marrying a mad scientist was a bad idea." She said and then turned the car on.
"You can keep the children that you've made into monsters, at least you'll have your little creations," she taunted as she drove off. The man walked back into the house, defeated. Climbing down the steps to the basement he peeked into the room where his children slept. Why couldn't she understand that he had done it to save them, not hurt them. He went over and swept his daughters hair off of her face, planting a kiss on her ice-cold forehead. He then did the same with his son, whose forehead was burning-hot. He could tell already that the powers had worked and wondered what the future would hold. His little children, his everything, and he had saved them as best he could with his "mad" science. Now he'd just have to wait.
