There once was a girl
She had a great life
She had loving friends and a great family
But the thing was
She didn't care about any of that
She wanted to be herself
She could do that most of the time
With some people
Her friends mostly
But at home
Around her family
There were restrictions
She could only be
Only show
so much of herself
And she didn't like that
And she didn't like how she looked either
She hated how she looked so normal
So good
So ok
But she was far from ok
She wanted to be different
In fact
She strived to be different
But there was a price to pay
The more she tried to be different
The more she was pushed into the mold
The mold that was set out for her
The mold that made her
Just
Like
Everyone
Else
And she didn't like that
She couldn't survive
Couldn't live a life
Inside a box
Much longer
She wanted to live outside the box
The only place she'd ever wanted to be
But she was scared
Scared of what was outside the box
She'd only seen glimpses
Of what else was out there for her
She liked what she saw
But she knew
Other people that she cared about
Didn't like that world
The world outside
So she stayed right where she was
Partly because she was scared
But also because she knew
That once she got out of that box
There was no going back
