I've always loved crowded rooms. I love being alone in a sea of people. I love knowing everyone has a story--a beginning, a middle, an end. I love sitting in the corner, watching some stranger's facial reactions, wondering if the joke they just heard was really that funny or if they were just laughing along to be nice.

I've always loved crowded rooms because they remind me of how connected we all are, even if we know no one at all.

But the night after you left, all of that changed.

I hated crowded rooms. I hated being alone in a sea of people. I hated knowing everyone has a story--a beginning, a middle, an end. I hated sitting in the corner, watching your facial reactions, wondering if the joke she just told you was really that funny or if you were just laughing along to be nice.

I hated crowded rooms because they reminded me of how connected we all are, even if we only know one person.

Because you used to be my person.
