I have known PJ all my life. Some of you might think that I am really lucky to be able to know him personally. But to be honest he is nothing special. He is just a normal boy who happens to have a great talent. I know I am lucky to know him, but not for his talent. For knowing him as a person.
I lay in bed and rewatch The Hunger Games for about the twentieth time since it has come out on DVD. Right when Peeta's name gets called my phone buzzes and I jump. I check it and smile. PJ texted me.
What are you doing?
I reply. Just watching hunger games. Want to come over? I set my phone down and wait for him to reply.
He does almost immediately. Coming right over. I will bring noodles. Have a bowl ready! He says and I laugh out loud. Only PJ.
I pause the movie to get a bowl, spoon and fork ready. Everything he needs to eat his noodles happily. I also get to mugs out just in case he feels like having some tea, which he always is.
I hear a knock on the door a couple minutes later. I open it and there he is standing with a giant bowl of noodles. I shake my head and smile at him.
"Did you start the movie without me?" He asks as he walking into the kitchen.
"I was watching when you text me. Right when Peeta's name was called." I say and he frowns. "You know we can rewind it." He smiles and it brightens the whole room.
"Fantastic. Do you have some water going for the tea?" He asks and I nod. "You know me so well." He laughs and pours two cups of hot water then adds the tea. He takes out the milk and splashes a little in both cups. He hands the cup to me and we take the bowl of noodles into my bedroom. I rewind the movie back to the beginning.
I have known PJ since we were kids. We went to the same school and lived right next to each other. Our parents were great friends too. He used to come over to my house after school almost everyday. We would work on homework if we had any then play games. He was always the best to play with because he was so creative. As we got older, nothing changed. He still came over all the time but we didn't play games anymore. For the most part we did homework because we had more. But he always knew how to lighten the mood while working.
Then he made his YouTube channel. He wouldn't come over as often because he was working on his videos. I miss having him around all the time. But he is still the same PJ. He likes to ask for my opinion on his videos before he posts them. I help him make some of them too.
"Care, I was wondering if you wanted to be in one of my videos. My subscribers have asked me to have my best friend on and I thought you would be perfect." He says during a quiet part in the movie.
I smile. I have always wanted to be in one of the videos but I didn't want to seem pushy. I nod and he smiles. "I would love to!"
"Yay! This is going to be great. Are you free tomorrow?"
"Surprisingly I am. Do you want my to meet at your place?" He nods and I can't stop smiling. "So what are you thinking about doing in the video?"
"Umm. I am thinking about having people ask questions on twitter and we answer them in a video. But not like slurp. Different somehow." He scrunches his eyebrows, thinking about the video.
"What about would you rather questions? Make them outrageous and crazy." He looks at me and smiles wide.
"That's a great idea! You are a genius!" He says loudly.
"I try." He laughs and I lay back on my bed and he does the same. "Don't spill those noodles all over my bed or else you will be the one washing them!"
"Oh right!" He says and puts the bowl on my nightstand. We finish the movie and he chooses another one. Of course it is Pitch Perfect. One of my favorite movies and he knows that. I end up falling asleep before the make it to the semifinals.
