The Structure of the Wand

In this chapter we will study about the composition and size and shape of the wand.

Composition

The wand has a very complex and interesting composition. It is discussed below in detail.

The Primary Parts

The wand consists of four main parts.

1. The core

2. The "enzahement"

3. The shell

4. The divek

Let us now study these four parts in detail.

The Core: - The core is the concentration of the power of the wand. It consists of a rare element which acts as the source of energy while performing a spell, an enchantment, a curse, a charm or a jinx. It is enclosed inside a "coreal case" so that it is protected from any damage. The "coreal case" is made of the "jyonray charm" which is the most powerful of sealing magic. The coreal case is designed in way to prevent any loss of energy and thus providing full power while performing magic. The core can be made from a variety of elements that can provide energy. Some examples of material used in wands are:-

1. Feathers of rare birds such as a the 'Phoenix'

2. Hair of legendary creatures such as the ''Veela'

3. Parts of a creatures such as 'Unicorn or Dragons'

Thus, the core is a very essential part of the wand, as it proves as a base for its working.

The "Enzahement":- The enzahement is the most essential part of the wand which paves the way for the energy from the core to work in the 'right way'. The enzahement is a fluid like substance in which the coreal case floats. The enzahement is transparent in color. It is extracted from the nectar of a very rare herb called the 'Xaura'. The 'Xaura' can be found on very high altitudes but where there is no snow. The enzahement is placed inside the shell and outside the core. The enzahement is also responsible for many phenomena which we come across while using a spell or a charm etc. The uses and working of the enzahement can be found in detail in the next chapter.

The shell: - The shell is the outer covering of the wand. It is the part of the wand which we can visualize and hold. It is made usually with wood. It is essential as it stops the enzahement to flow out from the wand and thus providing a stable structure or backbone to the wand. It can be made from the barks of a variety of woods such as pine, oak, teak etc. The shell of the wand is usually durable and prevents the wand from breaking but can be destroyed with rash use or during a 'wand impeachment process '.

The divek: - The divek is the brain of the wand. To make it simple and clear as it is the wand has brains and feelings. When you would have bought a wand for yourself you may have realized its power to some extent. It is this time when the wand tests you. The wand chooses the wizard. The only thing that depends upon us is that we acquire that wand or not.

This is where the divek comes into work. It is the supremacy of the divek to be loyal to a wizard or not. Hence, the decision-power of the wand resides with the divek. But here the usual method of providing intelligence to non-living things does not imply. The sense and feelings of the wand come simply from the core, which was once a part of a living creature and thus carries a significant little amount of feelings inside it. Coming back to the structure let's get on with the position of the divek. The divek is not placed freely by the wizard but created inside the coreal case inside which the core is, too, enclosed. Thus, it can also be stated that the divek is formed inside the coreal case along with the core. It is also important to note that the divek of the wand and the brain of a wizard are connected by impulses.

The Secondary Parts

There are two other parts of the wands on which the main composition is dependent. Let us study the secondary parts of the wand now.

The 'Kee':- The 'Kee' (pronounced as 'Kheeh') is a small structure made out of strands of thin silver. It is positioned just underneath the tip of the wand. It is used to concentrate the amount of energy from the wand into a thin bolt (which we can clearly observe while performing a spell) and thus, increasing its intensity.

The Hikahora: - As mentioned above enzahement is a liquid. It is highly unstable and evaporates at room temperature. It can be very difficult to sustain the fluid inside a closed shell, and if it is done so, it can result in the loss of the precious fluid. Since the fluid is very difficult to find hence, its loss cannot be tolerated. The Hikahora is the element of the wand which prevents this. The Hikahora is placed evenly inside the inner surface of the shell. It prevents the evaporation of the enzahement by keeping it cool and thus, somewhat stable.

Size and Shape

The size and shape of the wand are usually defined with the characteristics of the part which we can visualize, that is, the shell. Most wands have a length between nine and fourteen inches. The wands also are having a characteristic of flexibility. The flexibility and size of the wand can vary in different wands. These characteristics can affect the comfort of doing a spell, charm, curse etc.

In this chapter we discussed about the structure of the wand which include its composition and size. The clearing of the concepts of the structure of wand is the basic steps towards wandlore and hence this is one of the most important chapters while studying it.
