 December 12, Monday

Eight hours and five days left before winter break.

English was my last class and I was so eager to go home already.

After Mr. Riley finished his lecture about Greek mythology, I hurriedly rushed to my locker to pick up my books and sketchpad.

Upon opening my locker I saw a gift with a letter underneath it.

My secret santa just sent me a gift! How fast! I knew it was impossible to receive gifts today since Mrs. Finley just announced the secret santa activity today.

I took it out from my locker together with the letter. It was a box covered in a simple white colored wrapper, attached is a sticky note with my name on it.

"Julie"

This is really for me.

I picked my books and my sketchpad and dug them to my backpack together with the gift and the letter. In no time, I walked out of the hallway and out in the snowy street of Fairfields.

I told my parents over dinner about the secret santa activity. I told them that Chad was the person that I picked. I also mentioned that Chad is famous and rich so he must be expecting gifts that are in favor of him.

I asked them for help and money so I could give Chad a gift that is presentable and something that he will really like.

"Honey, if a person asks for a certain thing then that is not a gift, it's a desire Julie." My mom told me.

Being a mom, she is also my adviser and the tips that she had given me so far works on me. But I'm in a middle of a gift crisis and I don't think she understand what I meant. After all,

this is Chad we are talking about.

"I agree with your mom, just give him some simple gifts or maybe something that he will use." My dad was only catching up with the conversation but I can tell that he is more invested in his ham than my problem.

"But Dad the problem is I don't know what those things are!" I argued with them.  This was messing my mind me all day. I don't know what kind of gifts should I give to Chad and I didn't even bother to look for anything in the gift shop and it will be useless.

"It's not about the quality of the gifts honey. You have to give them something that will make them happy." My mom said and she smiled to me.

What my mom is telling me is that I have to come up with an idea. I have to think of a gift that will make Chad happy.

What will make Chad happy? What will make his heart sing with glee?

Ugh. This is torture.  I really wish I knew him better so I could give something that will make him smile.
