March 8th

Midnight

Eileen's P.O.V

"Wait!"

Rigby turns to me and gestures a "What?"

I take my phone and suggest that the two of us should take some photos together around the waterfall. He agrees and we pose our best, snapping the camera for about 5 times... before I am finally satisfied with the pictures.

"I think we're good to go," I say, grabbing Rigby's hand.

"Finally! I thought we might not get to the end of the surprise, " he groans.

We start walking away from the waterfall. I even wave my hand at it before catching up to Rigby's pace.

Along the way, all I can hear are the rustling bushes and the cracked sticks we step on and Rigby humming to an 80's song. Man, his humming is pretty out of tempo.

"Hey, look up, would you?" he greets, bringing me back to reality, away from my pointless thoughts. I feel embarrassed after he does that.

Lucky for me, it is kinda dark so he cannot see me blush.

"U-um... ok," I stutter.

I shoot a glance into the sky, which then makes me go speechless. The sky is... sparkling gracefully.

Both of us would not say a thing as we are busy gazing the stars.

Crack!

"GAH! My neck~" Rigby cries out, rubbing his cracking neck. Maybe it is because he has been staring up for too long? Uhh, that sounds unpleasant.

I slowly lower my head, avoiding the cracked neck thing to happen to me as well. Hey... "We're already in front of our tent!" I giggle uncontrollably. Rigby, on the other hand, only makes a weird expression on his face.

I scoff before continue,"Let's just take a sheet and put this outside. S-so we could enjoy viewing this magnificent scenery together..."

"Hmm. Eeggh..." looks like his neck is still hurt. Despite that, he shrugs it off and lies down next to me on the sheet. He heaves a sigh and lightly crosses his arms.

I glance back to the sky and slightly grin, loving the stars twinkle brightly.

"I wonder what's happening in the town right now," Rigby says, seems to start a topic after a long silence around us.

"Who knows."

"..."

"Twinkle, twinkle, little... star..." I sing, suddenly having a flashback of my dad always sang the song to me when he tucked me into bed. Without realizing, I strech out my right arm, as if I'm touching the sparkly stars.

"I never knew you could sing like that."

"You being sarcastic?"

That is when Rigby cuts me with a genuine statement,"N-no! You're singing very well. Although I've never heard of that song before..."

Say what now? My boyfriend does not even recognize this childish song! Which is... super weird. I twiddle my fingers around my hoodie, before having guts to ask a question.

"You said that you've never heard of this song. What'd your parents do when they sent you to bed when you were younger?"

Rigby puts his arms behind his head. He answers,"Well, my mom was always with Don while I'm stuck with my dad. So then, he never stopped telling tales of his love for his Mustang car. Pretty troublesome that I'm telling this to you."

Feeling guilty, I apologise to him. "I-I'm sorry."

"Never mind that, it's all right. Well..." he gets up from lying on the sheet after a while. "Imma go take some... stuff from the tent."

"Alright," I say. There I am, lying on my own, waiting for his return.

After a couple of minutes,  I can hear his steps getting louder, coming toward the sheet.

"Get up!"

"Why?"

"Just do it, please," he pleads. I give up with an "Okay."

Little did I know when I stand up, he kneels down to the ground and hands out a neatly wrapped box.

Could.

It.

Be!?

Omigosh could it REALLY BE!?

"Eileen... will you marry me?"

IT IS!!!

"I-I..."
