All I want for Christmas is....

I woke up and realized it was Christmas Eve. Which means it's my birthday. Which means I went back to sleep and tried to block out the world. Of course, if I wanted that to work I should've locked the door. Kanda burst into my room. I growled at him and threw the covers over my head. "Go away!" I mumbled. He said nothing and sat something on my bed and left. I didn't pull the covers off until my curiosity couldn't take it any more. I slipped out of the covers to see a box wrapped purple paper. I saw a card and opened it. 'Happy Birthday, Fier.' was stamped on it. How did he know? I brushed it off realizing there could have been multiple ways. I opened the box to find a hat, but not just any hat. It was a knit purple berét. I put it on and sighed. I got dressed into a black skirt and a purple sweater. I slipped out of my room and found my way to the kitchen. "Hi, Jerry." I greeted.

"Morning, Fier." He said. "Sit down and I'll make you some breakfast." I smiled.

"Thanks." I said. I sat down and was soon greeted with pancakes, eggs, and bacon. "Thank you for the good!" I then ate and washed my dish after I was finished.

"Fier you didn't have to do that." Jerry said.

"It's okay, I don't mind." I said. I then helped him make food. LenaLee eventually found her way into the kitchen looking for someone. Her eyes light up when she spotted me.

"Fier, why didn't you tell anyone it was your birthday?" She asked. Jerry looked over.

"Who told you?" I asked sighing.

"No one. I went into your room and saw the card. I didn't mean to, but I saw it so I kind of just..." She said. I nodded.

"It's okay. I just don't celebrate my birthday." I said. It's true and I don't plan on doing it anytime soon.

"Why?" Jerry asked.

"I'd rather not talk about it." I said and looked away. I finished what I was doing and washed my hands. "I think I'm going to go back to my room."

"Okay." LenaLee said and stepped aside and I passed her and trudged up to the room I was staying in. I lied on the bed, staring up at the ceiling, and sighed. Knock, knock.

"Come in." I said sitting up. Bookman came in and shut the door behind him. He pulled a chair over to my bed.

"I was going to come sooner." He said.

"It's alright." I said. I sighed and looked out the window.

"Today's that day, huh?" He questioned. I nodded. The day I lost Allen, the day my home disappeared, the day my life changed forever, just happens to be my birthday. He patted my back. "I see someone knew." I nodded looking back at the box on the night stand.

"Kanda brought it in this morning." I said quietly. Bookman's eyes widened.

"Kanda?" He said. I nodded confused as to why he was so surprised. "As far as I know, Kanda has never given anyone a present for anyone."

"Well, now that makes sense." I said.

"I think he likes you." Bookman said suddenly.

"I don't know about that." I said. "I think it's more if an understanding." Bookman smiled.

"Sure." He said sarcastically. I pouted.

"Stop making stories for your amusement!" I exclaimed. We both started laughing.

Fier looked really sad. I'm not sure what happened on her birthday but whatever it was, it caused her great pain. I looked at Jerry. "Maybe some cake would lift her spirits." He said smiling. He handed me a piece of cake. "Would you mind taking it up to her?" I smiled and left the kitchen to deliver the cake to Allen's sister.

I arrived in front of her door to hear laughing. Who was with her? I was so tempted to eavesdrop, but realized she would probably get the wrong idea if she caught me. I knocked on the door. "Yes?" Fier called.

"I brought some cake. I wanted to-" I stopped as she opened the door with wide eyes.

"Cake?" She asked. I smiled and she opened the door. I saw Bookman sitting in a chair near her bed. I smiled and nodded in greeting.

"Lenalee," Bookman said. "Apparently she's met Cross." I dropped the cake, but Fier managed to catch it before it fell on the ground.

"Safe!" She said. She put the cake on the desk and walked back over.

"Really?" I asked. She nodded and glanced at Bookman unsure of what to say.

"It was about two years ago." She said. "The last time I was going to leave the town.

"I'm not sure what you're saying." I said confused.

"What happened when we tried to leave the town happened before according to Cross." She explained. "He tried to convince me to come with him, but Rin and Lin needed to be taken care of. No one was there for them then." I nodded. Cross tried to reach out to her. Maybe he really did want Allen to be happy and tried to reunite him with his sister.

I hate this. LenaLee seems like a sweet girl, but here I am lying to her through my teeth with Bookman. I really need to get back to the White Order.
