Chapter 2

She was woken by a light pat on the shoulder. Connor was standing in front of the sofa, holding a notebook in one hand.

   “ Rise and shine! It’s time to organize some things about our wedding. I’m thinking a simple ceremony with only close family. The only available date is 24th June is that ok? Also, we are going dress shopping today!” Connor rambled.

   Kayla sat up slowly, trying to process his words. She finally nodded, mumbling some incoherent words to herself. Connor had always been the perky, organized one, while she was the laid back, happy go lucky one.

   A delighted scream jolted Kayla back onto the sofa in shock. Paige ran into the living room, holding a scroll,” The Ramonav heir to the throne, William’s birthday is on the 5th May, exactly 2 months from now. All girls from the age of 16 to 18 are invited to a stay in the castle for a stay starting from the 10th March. That’s right, 5 days from now! The soon-to-be-king will get to know you all, and decide who shall be his future wife, to declare to the whole island on his eighteenth birthday.” She read from the heavily decorated parchment. “ Kayla! This could be your chance in a lifetime! Sorry Connor, she won’t be able to make today. Come on, let’s get you packed!” Paige squealed excitedly.

   Kayla ran her hands through her brown silky hair exasperatedly, “ Paige, I’m marrying Connor in June and it’s settled. I’ll just go in the castle, enjoy the luxury, then leave after he’s announced his wife. This is no big deal.”

   Paige ignored her, and pulling her up the stairs into her room. She opened a large empty trunk, and flung Kayla’s closet doors open. Her excited eyes scanned through the closet, only to reach a frown on her face,

   “Why don’t you have any dresses? What are we supposed to do with you! Come on, get dressed. We’re going shopping!” Paige ordered.

   And so they went.
