Kate walks up to me with a huge grin. "I got you something!!"
"What?" I say both confused and concerned.
"Uriah Slayter's phone number!!!" Kate purrs.
"Kate! Oh my Sweet Jesus! Why in the world would you do that?!?"
"Hey! Don't look at me like that. I didn't even have to ask. He just have me his number." Kate holds up a card with Uriah's name, number, business's name and address.
"Kate. That's his business card." I say almost disappointed in myself.
For a second I actually thought he wanted me to have his number. Then
Moment
Crushed.
And another half a second flashes by and I realized that its mandatory that employees give business cards to their customers."So? It doesn't mean that we can't contact him." Kate says nonchalantly.
I rub my temples and walk over to Lilac. "Come on. We gotta flight in 24 hours that we need to catch. We better get back home with mom and dad before school starts."
"Cyrus... can I stay over until school starts?" Kate says softly.
"Of course. But one day, sugar, you gotta go home. You can't avoid your parents forever. Even if they are fighting. All the time."
"Buuut Cyrus! Your parents love me!!" Kate whines.
"My parents may love you now but wait until they see you twenty-four seven in only a tank top and underwear prowling around in the house."
"I don't mind."
I roll my eyes. "Of course you don't."
Kate and I drive silently to the hotel. Once we arrive Kate immediately goes to the closet to remove her clothing and replace them into the suitcase.
"Wait." Kate literally shouts.
I jump and turn to her.
"What about Uriah?" Kate mumbles.
"What about him?" I say raising a brow.
"You'll never see him again." Kate whines.
"I'm okay with that." I lie. "I mean it's not like we're gonna see each other again."
"You never knooow."
"Kate." I warn.
"Cyrus." She mocks.
"Dude. Seriously, knock it off. Nothing's gonna happen."
Kate falls silent and shoves her clothes into her suitcase.
"I don't understand why you're getting mad" I frown.
"I'm mad because you finally like someone again and you're just throwing it away like nothing happened. I saw the recognition in both of your eyes, Cyrus. He likes you and you obviously like him. I just don't understand why you are throwing a perfectly good thing down the drain without giving it a chance. Is it because you don't want the relationship to end up like what happened with Damion or what?"
"I don't wanna talk about it. Please can we drop it?" I say softly.
*Who's Damion???*
