All I Need

I was at the subway station with Cammie, we were on the run and the quickest escape out of Buenos Aires is to take the subway to the airport. Cam had just stopped to grab some snacks before the train leaves. I turned around and saw a flash of red hair. I had to do a double take but the second time I looked, there was nothing there. I told Cammie that I had to go to the washroom and that I would be right back. As soon as I was out of sight of Cam, I noticed someone on my tail. That red hair is unforgettable. I stopped and leaned up against a wall and waited for her to approach me. Not two minutes later, she came right up to me and stopped.

"What do you want?" I asked with force in my voice.

She looked offended when I had said that, "What makes you think I want something? Can't a mother just keep an eye on her son?"

After everything we've been though and she can still call herself my mother. That woman is insane. I had thought that I made it clear that our 'relationship' is over but apparently I was wrong.

"You are not my mother. You and I both know that is how it is. So once again, I ask. What do you want?"

She sighs then flips her hair over her shoulder and checks her perfectly manicured nails. "I can see there will be no beating around the bush at this little check in. So, what I want is simple. I want dear little Cameron."

"No." I say somewhat condescendingly with confidence. "That's not going to happen. You see, you already tried that before, years ago, and it didn't work. And now we are even more trained and know more then we ever have. You're not getting Cammie. Not now, not ever."

Catherine smiled a tight lipped smile and said in a low voice, "I thought you would say something like that. So I do have an alternative."

That coming from Catherine was never anything good, so cautiously, I asked, "And what is that?"

"Oh nothing that big, I just want your daughter. What's her name again? Morgan? Yes. The precious little thing, why is it that I have never met her?" She giggled.

Instinctively, I made myself bigger. "You will not lay a finger on my daughter." I stood my ground because I had to. I was scared, so scared. If Catherine did anything to my daughter, I wouldn't be able to live with myself, so I had to be brave now.

"And what makes you think I won't?" She argued.

"I will kill you, no hesitation, if you ever touch her." I added emphasis to the word 'ever'.

"Darling," she whispered with a smirk, "I'm already dead."

I saw the swoosh of red hair in front of me as she turned around and faded away.

I woke up in a flash. I started to panic, where was I? Where's Catherine? As I looked around, I started to calm down. I'm at home, not in Buenos Aires.

I looked down and my Gallagher Girl was sound asleep beside me. I gently brushed the hair out of her face and smiled, it was only a dream. Catherine is dead, she is never coming back. She will never hurt my girls ever again.

After I thought that, I had to go check on my baby girl. I quietly got out of bed and walked across the hall to her room, I heard the squeak of the door as I slowly opened it to see. With the dimly lit pink night light, I could see her, sleeping peacefully. Catherine was never there, and she never will be.

I stayed there watching her for a bit, trying not to imagine all the terrible things Catherine would do to my child in order to get what she wants.

I stood there and I could imagine seeing Morgan running around, looking just like her mother, but with my dark green eyes. I could remember the games of hide-and-seek where no one could find her because she blends in just like her mother. I could hear her saying "Spy." and pointing to herself after she did something she wasn't supposed to, just to be like me.

I felt a pair of arms wrap around my stomach and a head rest against my back. "What are you doing up?" Cam mumbled sleepily against my back.

I moved her to my side so I had my arm over her shoulder and pulled her close as I said, "I had a dream, and Catherine was in it." I felt her tense up at the name, and she has every right to. After all that woman had put her through. But she didn't say anything else, and she didn't need to. She understands why I would be anxious after that, and she understands why I would get up and check on Morgan. After all, that little girl has taken over our world.

Standing there with both of my girls safe and with me, was all I needed.

A/N: Hey guys, at the top is a song that I think works for Zach, it doesn't really have anything to do with this story though. I wrote this very quickly and have done minimal editing, sorry for any mistakes or poor wording. Winter, Nova, "Listen to me. I couldn't find you. And I will never forgive myself for that. Ever." I will see you guys later.
