Ruby was lying on the floor, her eyes closed. My heart skips a beat. I run towards her lifeless body and luckily hear slow breaths coming from her direction. I roll my eyes and wake her up. Once Ruby had regained her senses we ran down the street to Scarlett's house. We wait out the front and see a crimson, red leaf falling from the tree, like an eagle gliding over a mountain. She was ready for me because she was going to take me to the airport. I put my stuff in the back and then, out of nowhere, Ruby grabs a bag and puts it in the boot too.
"What are you doing?" I ask, uneasily.
"I am going with you!" Ruby says with a smile on her face.
"You can't." I stutter.
"Why not?" Ruby inquires.
"You just can't." I sigh.
"Well, I'm coming with you, whether you like it or not. Look, I'm just doing what friends do. Sticking by your side 'till the end." Ruby says. I get in the car and close the door. Ruby gets in the other side.
" You checked this with your parents?" I ask.
" Yes. Now stop worrying!" Ruby replys exasperated, but then smiles. I was determined to stay awake, but I finally gave in. With the soft breathing of Ruby to soothe me, I lay my head on the the car head rest.

When we got to the airport, I said goodbye to Scarlett and boarded the plane with Ruby. The sight of the Earth below us was amazing and unlike the car trip we didn't close our eyes once. It was 7:00 pm when we got to the hotel. I was so tired. We started unpacking. I was leaving the suitcase 'till last. Someone knocked on the door. Ruby went and opened it. "o'namae wa nan desuka?" A girl said.
"What? Pardon?" Ruby blurted out, not understanding what the Japanese lady said and being extremely rude. I stood up and walked to the door. "Watashi no namae wa Rebekka desu." I say to the lady
" Kanojo no?" the lady asks.
"Kanojo no namae wa, rubt de."The  lady bowed to me and then walked off writing something in her book that looked like a check in list.

I've been learning Japanese since I was five because my parents used to speak it sometimes, before they vanished. I go into some kind of zone.
"What was she saying?" Ruby asked. I snap the tears back into my eyes and walk towards Ruby.
"She was wondering what our names were." I  stammer recovering from my day dream. Ruby could have learnt Japanese but she didn't. She always pretends that she did though.
"Right. I knew that."Ruby says all high and mighty.
I laugh. I heard a rustling noise coming from my suitcase. Ruby heard it too. We looked at each other and then back to the suitcase.

We slowly walk towards it. I open the suitcase and rush back, expecting something to happen, but nothing did.
Ruby and I were standing there confused. We let the mysterious happenings pass over our minds and went to explore our hotel room. The 'apartment' looked like a normal Australian one.

The walls were the crisp white of gently fallen snow, and the timber floor boards were so glossy you could see your own reflection in it. I place my hand on a silver handle that has strange markings on it, and twist my wrist.
The door opens. I call Ruby over and glide into the room. My nose starts to sting as I smell beautiful lavender coming from the flowerpot in the corner of the bathroom.

The bath is claw footed and the window is providing a magnificent view of the sun slowly sinking into the earth. I walk out and jump on to my king sized bed. Ruby jumps on to hers. Within ten minutes, we are asleep.
