KET
"Even before you touched me
I belonged to you;
All you had to do was
Look at me."
-Louise Gluck"THEY ARE TOTALLY MAKING LOVE!!"
Teremun looked up from rummaging through his wooden trunk with a bewildered expression. Ket spared a glance at the figures in the doorway to see one with an overjoyed grin and the other with a baffled, bright red face. She just rolled her eyes and kept on putting more wood into the fire.
Teremun hardly spared her a slight glance before he went back to digging something out of the bottom of the box. "Go away, Ankhesenamun."
"You two are so irritable!!" The queen exclaimed as she marched in. Melis was right behind her, his face still blushing. "You two just went through this heart-racing, life and death trial of your love! How are you not all over each other?"
Melis set down a tray by Teremun's bed. On it was a collection of food and medicines. "We got this from the doctors. Big sister insisted on coming in their place to check on you."
Ket rose an eyebrow at Ankhesenamun. "Since when are you qualified to be checking on a sick patient?"
"I was doing you two a favor!" She exclaimed as she threw her hands up. "I was giving you more time to bond and let the events of today push you into finally being together. And then, I was giving you time to be together." She winked at Teremun.
"But you just barged in," he responded. "How is that giving us time?"
"Well, of course I wanted to make sure!" She replied with great exsperation. "You know, fruit of my labor and all." She plopped down on his bed, face first. For a moment she was still. They all watched her intently. Ankhesenamun was a force of nature in her own way. Not only was she stunningly beautiful, but she had a way of entrancing those around her, making them unable to look away. No doubt was it her dramatic nature. With her, you never knew what to expect so it was best if you just kept looking.
Suddenly, she started flailing on the bed, kicking and screaming. Then, she grabbed a pillow and chucked it at Teremun. He hardly ducked in time to avoid it.
"What is your problem?" He exclaimed. "You're a queen for gods sake. Stop behaving like a child!"
Ankhesenamun sat up and crossed her arms. Her face was set in a pout that could somehow be described as adorable. "You two suck, you know that?"
Teremun sighed and glared at Melis. "Why would you let her come in here?"
The queen scoffed. "As if he could stop me." Then, she suddenly stood up and glanced back and forth between Teremun and Ket. An annoyed scowl was spread across her brow. She frowned at Teremun one last time before sticking her nose into the air with a slight hmpf! and grabbing hold of Ket's hand. "Come with me, Ket. Us girls need to have a talk."
She started dragging Ket towards the door. Knowing there was no way to talk Ankhesenamun out of her cunning ways, Ket just gave up and let herself be towed along. She threw a desperate glance over her shoulder at Teremun. He walked behind them, watching with a discontent expression. Then, just as the queen stepped out of the door, Teremun suddenly caught hold of Ket's arm and jerked her out of his sister's gasp and back into the room. Ankhesenamun spun around.
"Teremun-"
He slammed the door in her face, then quickly secured the lock. The queen pounded on the wood and cried out protests, but Teremun pretended not to hear. He stared down at Ket. She was leaning against the door, a look on her face that was somewhere between surprise and apprehension.
