*~*~~*~*
Rue has been fallowing me around like a shadow. Never once left my side, even when we didn't have class together. He had managed to get rid of the people that was sited beside me (which was not a lot) and stayed the entire period. The teachers didn't even seem to mind.
It was lunch break by now, and I was on my way to the canteen which is located outside. I could feel Ruth moving a distance away from me, and at this point, it was starting to get on my nerves. "Don't you have anything better to do?" I hissed, once I reached the food line with him closely behind. The other students paid me no mind.
Rue didn't answer, instead, he silently glared and sized up the student that passed him as he waits in line. Eyes glaring at their food in disgust.
Rolling my eyes at him, I quickly ordered grilled cheese with a side of fruit, and a bottle of water. Leaving him behind as he was ordering hoping to lose him in the crowds. But just my luck, he ended up at my side again. "Your acting like a lost pup." I mumbled, as I make my way to the glass doors that lead inside.
"Where are you going?" Finally, he speaks. Clutching my arm tightly, just below the sore spot Samantha left.
"Outside." I glared, pulling my arm from his hold as I balanced my tray on my hands. "I don't belong here."
He seemed angered by my choice of words before walking away to a occupied table, I though I had finally made him leave me alone, but I couldn't seem to move my feet and look away.
He stood in front of the table, the attention of the occupants diverted to him, some openly gaped while others tried to keep their cool. I will never understand cool kids.. "May we sit here?" I stifled my laugh when they looked like they almost fainted at the sound of his voice escaping his lips, I tried to ignore the 'we' in his question.
"O-o-of course!" A guy that was happily munching on his pizza, stuttered, standing up to leave. "You could have the table, w-we don't mind!" He left, followed by the others, quietly murmuring.
He waved me over. "That wasn't very nice." I hid a smile, trying to be stern towards my shadow.
He sat down, shrugging. "I asked, didn't I?"
Sitting down and getting comfortable. This was the first time I had actually ate surrounded by groups and groups of people without having to fear them. Munching on my grilled cheese and fruit, I uncapped my bottle and took a sip of water.
I noticed how Rue hadn't touched his food. "Something wrong?" I asked, out of curiosity. I followed his glaring gaze which led me to a random guy, holding a tray of stacked pizza. Someone must love their pepperonis..
"I just don't get how people can eat that.."
"Pizza?" I asked in confirmation, taking a big bite out of my juicy fruit.
His face scrunched up in discomfort and a scowl as I casually take a big bite out of my sandwich. "It's disgusting."
"Says the guys eating nachos." I mumbled, barely holding in an eye roll. Am I really eating lunch with this guy? He scowled at me before digging in. We were silent after that, and I was glad. I never really had anyone to eat lunch with like this, and I really didn't want him to think that we were all buddy buddy. I know this was because of pity, and I hated it, but it feels kind of nice to be with someone, even if it was just for a while.
