The Boy That Shows What It Means, To Be Loved

Chapter 4

Recap: I gave him a small smile back and then Mary came in. She sat on the sofa. "Okay, I'll tell you what's going on. Are you ready to know?" Baekhyun tensed up in my arms. I wrapped my arms around his waist as he melt into them. I smiled and then looked towards Mary with a serious face. "Yes I'm ready."

Chanyeol's POV:

Mary sighed. "Okay, this is what happened." Baekhyun became tensed in my arms. I wrapped my arms around him a bit tighter and calmed him down. "I'm here Baek. No need to be afraid, okay?" I said softly. Baekhyun slowly nodded and whispered, "Okay Channie.." I smiled and looked back up to Mary to continue.

She has a smile on her face and then quickly changed it to a serious face. "Ever since Baekhyun was born. Mr. and Mrs. Byun were so happy. Finally having a child of their own, raising him together with love and care. I helped babysit him when his parents were working. Mr. and Mr.s Byun were so happy when Baekhyun said his first words and started to walk. But something happened. I don't really know what exactly happened. When Baekhyun turned 6 years old, Mr. and Mrs. Byun stopped caring for Baekhyun. They stopped giving him attention. They didn't give him love and the care he needed. He was still so young, so he didn't really know anything. I was heartbroken when I saw him crying all by himself in the living room. I went to Baekhyun and cheered him up. I can't stand seeing him unhappy. It makes me sad too when he was upset. So I did everything I can to make him happy, feel loved, feel cared for, and made sure he was healthy and well fed. When Baekhyun turned 10 years old, Mr. and Mrs. Byun decided to not let Baekhyun joined them at dinner time to eat. I was beyond furious but I couldn't do anything. If I did, I would of been fired and that means, I would leave Baekhyun all alone. I would never do that to him, so I kept my mouth shut. The poor boy has his life hard from the beginning. So when he entered high school, he started focusing on school work and tried to get the in the top grades. I was worried whenever he studied to hard and overworked himself. One day when he came home from school, he looked exhausted and saw bruises on his face. He never told who did that to him. I just let it go and took care of his bruises. His parents didn't even care or asked what happened. I was so mad but I had to keep calm. Ever since then, he never made any friends, he was always shy and quiet. I was worried but nonetheless cared for him, like he was own son."

I looked at Mary with wide eyes. What?! His parents are so cruel. What the hell happened? I need to know, maybe my parents know. I looked at Baekhyun and he was sleeping. He cried himself to sleep. I felt really sorry for Baek but I know he doesn't want sympathy at all. I wiped his tears away from his soft cheeks and gently placed him onto the bed and pulled the covers over him. 

Mary gave me a smile and said, "You know. I think you would be the best thing Baekhyun has ever met." I blushed and was confused at what she meant. Before I could leave with Mary, I felt a tug on my sleeve. I looked down and Baek has one eye open. "Please...don't go...Stay with me?" Baek whispered. I gave him a gentle smile and lay down next to him. "Okay, I won't go anywhere okay?" Baek gave me a small smile and nodded. Soon, he drifted to sleep with a smile on his face. 

"Well I see that he likes you very much. Just don't hurt him, okay?" Mary said. I smiled and nodded. She smiled back and went downstairs. I wrapped my arms around his waist and kissed his cheek. "Don't worry. I won't go anywhere and I'll protect you." Soon enough, darkness took over and I fell asleep.
