Thea

"Hello?" I hear from the other side of the phone. And Blake begins singing Adele in my ear. I slap her arm hard and shake my head angrily pointing to the phone.

"Sorry, Thea, I had no clue you were on the phone," she says in a sarcastic tone followed by a dramatic eye roll.

"Thea?" Ellis asks.

"Come back?" I ask simply. It might sound pretty desperate but I don't care. He is wasting time and I don't have that kind of time to waste with him.

"I've been sitting outside of Blake's apartment for an hour. I didn't go far," I can hear the laughter in his voice.

"Why didn't you come up?" I am almost yelling into the phone but am trying to control my voice.

"I'm not sure," he sounds sad suddenly. So unlike how he's sounded this whole time we've been together.

"I'm coming down."

It's so stupid that I want to jump into his arms and kiss him until we are both dizzy and breathless. It's stupid because it would just make saying goodbye harder.

He looks tired. His hair is a bit messy and his eyes only reach mine for a quick moment before looking away.

I kiss him. Goodbye will be hard no matter what.

I almost think he's going to push me away or tell me he's done with this adventure but he just kisses me back. Lips and tongue and I'm smiling which is making this difficult and he starts laughing.

We are both laughing with our foreheads pressed together.

"I'm sorry," he says softly.

I shake my head, "we have no time for apologies."

"I want to show you something," he says before kissing me again.

Ellis takes my hand and leads me only a few blocks away from Blake's apartment.

"Don't forget we have to meet Blake for dinner," I say because our walk seem long and time with Ellis flies away too quickly.

"I know, I know," he nudges me with his shoulder, "right there."

I look towards where he is pointing and see another park, "weren't we just at a park?"

He doesn't say anything just leads me towards the entrance of Bryant Park and towards the cutest outside library I have ever seen. The only outdoor library I've ever seen.

"What is this?"

"A library?" He says pointing at the sign.

"But it's outside. In New York City. The books aren't stolen?" I run my fingers over the spins of the books on a small cart.

It's late enough that the park is pretty empty, well as empty as anything in The City ever is.

"I don't know. I guess no one wants to steal free things and if someone does steal them it means they must have really need it."

I nod and grab a book off the shelf. Ellis watches me, "this whole thing is hard."

"What is?" I ask looking up from the book I'm holding.

"Picturing my life with you and knowing there is no chance it can actually happen."

I walk over grab his hands and kiss him, "lets just be happy. Lets fill up the rest of our time with good fun memories. Please?"

He nods and smiles but the smile doesn't reach his eyes.
