Ellis
Thea and I walk hand in hand into the airport. It's busy even at 4:00 in the morning. People are rushing from check in to security and we are standing in the center of the lobby.
My suitcases have been checked in, my boarding pass is in my hand, and now the only thing left to do is to leave her. Say goodbye to the one girl who I could actually see myself with.
"Thank you for the best day of my life," Thea says wrapping her arms around me and resting her head in the crook of my shoulder.
I kiss the top of her head and then her lips when she finally looks up at me, "thank you too."
I know I have to leave but I can't seem to make the first move. Thea is going to have to.
For the first time since I decided I wanted to go to culinary school in Europe, I'm regretting my choice. There are fine culinary schools all over the United States.
But I can't change my dreams for Thea just like she couldn't change her plans for me.
"You'll visit?" I ask.
"Yes, soon," she says.
"Did it work? Did you fall in love with me?" I ask.
She nods, tears starting to fall down her cheeks, "I really think so."
We kiss and I can taste her tears mix with mine and I never knew saying goodbye could hurt so badly.
"I'll see you soon, Ellis," Thea says taking a step away from me.
"See you soon, Thea," I say and watch her walk away.
She doesn't look back.
If she would just look back I could change her mind.
*Thea*
I don't look back at him because I don't want him to see the tears pouring down my face and the sobs I'm attempting to hold back.
My heart is shattering, the fragments are littered all over the floor of the airport lobby and I don't want Ellis to see that. I know he will be able to see that if I turn around.
I can feel his eyes on me until I finally reach the door and exit the airport. I'm hiccuping by the time I get back to the car. I hope the driver can understand me when I give him Blake's address.
My eyes close as I try to get myself together before I have to face Blake.
The driver gives me a small smile that silently says you made a mistake I nod and wipe the tears that won't seem to stop.
Somehow I make it to Blake's apartment door without even realizing I moved. It's like all the minutes since I've left Ellis are blending together into a mess that doesn't matter when every single second I spent with him matter so much.
I knock, Blake opens the door, "oh, Thea," she says and I burst into tears again.
I'm waiting for her to tell me that she told me that this would end badly but I know she won't.
We end up laying in her bed, she is trying to calm me down with junk food and nice words but nothing is working, "Thea, we will spend the rest of your time here doing fun things. I promise," Blake says.
"I've spent 30 hours doing everything there is to do," I mumble, "I just want to sleep."
"Okay," she says.
"I think I really love him," I say.
"I know, Thea."
