I woke up, and I didn't have a clue where i was. Or who I was, for that matter. The sun was setting, and there was carnival music playing, seeming to come from all around me. I slowly stood up, only to almost fall again. My legs felt.... weak. What had happened to me? I looked around, and discoverd I was at a carnival. Well, that explains the music. I looked at all the people laughing and playing games and wondered how I could have possibly gotten here.
"Excuse me, sir?" I asked to a man walking by. He didn't reply, though. Instead, he seemed to look through me. It gave me the chills. He then proceeded to give me a dirty look and walk away. I wonder what that was about? Upon putting my hands in my pockets I found some change and decided to play some games while I was here. Walking over to the ring toss game (as it was closest to me), I payed and aimed for the pins.
"So, where abouts are we?", I casually asked he carny working the station. He grins and chuckles and the sound of this alone makes me want to run in the other direction. "Oh, we're someplace reeeeeeal far." "Far from where?" I ask, his reply not helping me much. "Far from somewhere, of course" With this I say goodbye and walk away. He must be crazy or something, and he really creeps me out. Maybe ill go ask someone else. After a few seconds, I found myself among some brightly colored tents. I walk into one randomly, hoping to find someone who made any sense around this place. I needed to know where i was so I can find out who I am and what happened to me.
Inside the tent was a woman with a brightly colored cloak and a purple turban with an eye and feather in the center. "Yes?", the grizzled looking woman asks. "Youre supposed to be able to see the future past and present, right?", I ask her. "It depends deary, on who wants to know!", she cackles out.
"Do you think that you could help me?", I ask her. "I probably could. have a seat deary, have a seat", she says without even looking at me. I sat across from her at the table and she took my hand. Hers were cold and clammy.
"So whats troubling you so bad you came to see dear old Madame Fray, hmmm child? Well come on, speak up! My hearings not what it once was."
"Well, Ive recently had some problems remember-"
She cut me off, "Remembering what dear?"
"Well, everything. Who i am, how i got here, where i'm from."
"Oh? Well that snothing important dear. Whats important dear is what you've done."
I stared at her a moment perplexed. Well, if I knew who i was and where I was from then wouldnt I also figure out what ive done? "Whatever do you mean? What have I done?"
"Quite a bit, I'd say", came her reply.
"Like what? Do you know?"
"Of course I know! What do you take me for?! You, child, have done some terrible things in your lifetime. But your death was quite the event", she said with a smile.
"W-what are you talking about?", I just about yelled as i stood up fast, almost tipping the chair.
"Well, you were put to death when you were finally caught."
"Caught? But i didnt do anything!"
"Oh? But how would you know, you have no memory, remember?" She was cackling by this point. It was a nasty sound that made me shake in my shoes. I turned to run when she said, "You killed people. Lots and lots of people." That was just about all I could take, and I ran out of the tent, only to find tons of people standing outside the door.
"And where do you think youre going, deary?", the woman from the tent said. I looked around and realized I was surrounded.
People in the crowd were yelling things like "Shes the one!" and "Get her!".
"And now, surrounded by the souls of the ones youve killed, you will be sent off to hell", she says and pushes me into a hole i didnt even realize was right in front of me.
"NOOOOO!" I scream as I fall down the seemingly endless hole. The last thing i remember is the crowd cheering, and flashes of memory. Of me killing people. Maybe i deserve this, I thought to myself. But then i smirked and said out loud, "Id do it all again!"
