You're not sure if you have the courage to talk to them right now, so you scurry inside like a(n) rough beast slouching towards Bethlehem and join the party, making a mental note to drum up a conversation with them later on over spirit cake, gluten-free bread, broken pencil lead and turmeric.
Once inside, the party takes your breath away. Everyone is already radiating, converging wildly on the dancefloor.
Mendelssohn's The Hebrides Op. 26 (Fingal's Cave) plays loudly from the speakers and you can't help but do the whirling dervish, but in Gangnam Style. You had always shipped Vegeta and Gandalf so you're not entirely surprised to see them prophesying and meditating together in the corner. Don DeLillo, Franz Kafka, irishtaf and njgreenfield are having a rap battle in the centre of the room, while several Elvis and SONEs are gushing over the latest update of Espresso Love on their phones.
The whole atmosphere is electric. It looks like Middle Earth on Reach or Coruscant in the middle of Houseplant Appreciation Day and Golden Week and you can't imagine anything better.
"Happy Birthday, Wattpad," you say with a smile, "Here's to another 10 years!"
