It was a quiet day, not much important was happening. I was brushing my long, black hair. It was quiet for once, surprisingly. I had gotten up early, and was sure my sisters and mom would still be home but they weren't. It was silent. Even my brother wasn't there. I paused taking a moment to think for myself, why hadn't anyone been home? Especially on the 1st day of sophomore year for me.
My thoughts were abruptly stopped when I heard the soft ding of my phone go off. I picked up the rather large device and noticed it was a text from my friend, Angel.
Cringemoses: hey home slice, bread slice, friend slice whats uPPPPPP
Me: do you ever fuckin stop, is2g
Cringemoses: No wtf do you think is? anywhere where are you at, I'm scared and people keep staring at me like I have a disease. :(
Me: You do have a disease, Angel.
That was my last text after a little before Angel stopped texting me. I started wondering if I took it a little too far with that last text, but she never seemed bothered by me or Abby calling her Cringemoses or saying she had the made up illness. I finished brushing my hair to the best of my ability, and walked to my closet. I was just about to pull out my aesthetic Panic! shirt and skinny jeans before my phone buzzed again. Except, now it was group chat with my two friends, Angel and Abby.
Cringemoses: GUYS GUYS GUYS I JUST LEARNED THE BESTEST THING ABOUT BRIAN
eGg: What? That he and Andrew are finally out as boyfriends?
Cringemoses: NO NO BRIAN HAS A DAUGHTER
Me: jfc Angel no need to tell us, we already know it's yours.
Cringemoses: I don't like him :(
Cringemoses: BUT REALLY I HEARD EVER AND ANDREW TALKING ABOUT IT YOU GUYS GOTTA GET HERE FAST
eGg: wow Angel how rude to just eavesdrop
Me: yeah, angel, I can't believe you're stalking people to get information about Brian, just talk to him already.
Cringemoses: UGH WHY DONT YOU BELIEVE ME IM LEAVING
Me: ur so extra angel, is2g
Cringemoses: :(
*Cringemoses has left the chat*
Well, okay then. I don't understand why she'd get upset over that though. Brian couldn't actually have a daughter right? We were all barely 16! I checked the time on my phone. Shit! My bus was almost here! I quickly got dressed and ran outside.

I arrived at school, grabbing my backpack and running down the stairs out of the bus towards my school. I had 10 minutes before the bell rang for the day to start. Great, only 10 minutes to talk with my ratty friends. I mean, I have like 6 of my 8 classes with them, but still. And they're both in a higher math course than me too, Angel and Abby are in Algebra 2, while I have my ass stuck in geometry. Yeah yeah, 16 and sophomores, I know. It's our birthdays that held us back a year, don't judge.
Anyway, as I walk in the school building I see Angel and Abby sitting by a pillar and just talking. I guess it's just to avoid going in the gym since Angel is paranoid of every person looking at her and Abby is just a supportive friend who doesn't like people anyway. I guess I'm kinda a mix of both then.
"DAISY!" I hear Angel scream before she stands up, Abby not following far behind as the two walk towards me.
"Dude! I'm not joking, she was being serious. Brian actually has a daughter!" Abby said, sounding honest. At this point I had no idea what to believe, why would Brian have a kid and not tell us? How old was this said kid to be?
"You're kidding me, right?" I ask, sounding unconvinced.
"No! Why would either of us joke about this!" Abby retorted, I assume slightly annoyed because I still don't believe her.
"It's not like I told you guys already anyway." Angel scoffed at the two of us.
"Oh shut up, Grand Canyon shoulders." I replied gesturing to Angel's shoulders. I know it's weird to make fun of someone's shoulders, but she was told during a spinal check that she 'had long shoulders for a girl', so not my problem, really.
"Why should I believe you guys anyway? I mean, what's the point ya know? Brian clearly isn't very open about his daughter if he does have one. So why she would bother him about it?" I ask. I tried changing the subject before Angel got too mad at the insult I said before.
"Maybe she's lost!" Both Angel and Abby exclaimed at the same exact time.
"I highly doubt Brian has a lost daughter, you guys. It's only high school. This isn't some book or anything like that." I sigh rolling my eyes, "What kinda plot twist is that, anyway?"
"Okay, okay. I know you don't believe us, but there is adventure involved. You don't have to believe me about Brian and his daughter, but what about a couple days away from school on a journey!" Angel smiled. It was that one smile, where she seemed to know too much but you couldn't really tell because the expression from her eyes hid behind her black and red glasses.
"I...um....fine." I said and Abby nodded happily along with Angel.
"Good! Meet in the parking lot before 4th." Abby said, "Angel can drive."
"I'm sorry, but we should at least attend classes today and maybe tomorrow so we can know our A and B day schedules." Angel replied hesitantly.
"Angel, no one actually goes to school on the first two days unless they're nerds. Like you. Just go to the parking lot." Abby said. The other girl complied while I just stood awkwardly, listening to the dull but entertaining conversation.
(Authors Note: Hey sorry for not posting I lowkey forgot about the book lmao soooo you get this wreck. It's not a lot but :))))))))))))))))) Enjoy! - Angel)
