Chapter One Charity Meets Dorian

TWELVE YEARS LATER

'It had been twelve years since I was taken in by Dr. Victor Frankenstein, he took me in when I had nowhere to go. He had been somewhat of a father to me, I owed him a great deal for saving my life all those years ago. Charity Quinn, had disappeared I had known that I was not his biological child, but I was a Frankenstein..' "Good morning, Dr. Frankenstein." I said "Good morning, Charity. Up early again, I see." Victor said "I apologize if I woke you. I assure you it won't happen again." I said "No, you needn't apologize. I was already awake. I was thinking that it has been twelve years today since I took you in. You certainly have grown into a beautiful young woman.." Victor said, pulling my long hair over my shoulder "You're my family, if we're related by blood or no. You saved my life, Dr. Frankenstein. I will never be able to thank you enough for this." I said "You were a child in need of a home. It would not have been right if I just left you out in the cold." Victor said "Would it be alright if I went into town today? Just to get out?" I said "I'm not entirely sure about that, Charity. But, I guess since you'll be eighteen within a matter of days, it would be alright. As long as you have a proper escort. Come. I know just the man. He is a close acquaintance of mine." Victor said, taking hold of my hand "Okay, could you tell me who this friend of yours is, Dr. Frankenstein?" I asked "He is a wealthy young man who answers to Dorian Gray." Victor said 'We approach the mansion before the rain starts, knocking at the door, Victor holds his umbrella over my head, and a very handsome young man opens the door...' "Dr. Frankenstein. Good morning." The man said "Mr. Gray. I'd like you to meet my daughter, Miss Charity Frankenstein. Charity, this is Mr. Gray." Victor said "Tell me, Miss Charity, how old are you?" Dorian asked "I'll be eighteen in a few days." I said 'I had looked deep into his soft deep eyes, almost forgetting that I had wanted to see the town...' "I must go. I have an engagement; promise that you'll take care of her, Mr. Gray. I shall return as soon as I can, Charity." Victor said, hugging me "Be careful, Dr. Frankenstein." I said as he left "He's your father, yet you address him as Dr. Frankenstein.." Dorian said "I was taken in by Dr. Frankenstein when I was six, after some sort of creature murdered my family; my parents, brothers and sisters. I never saw the creature that attacked them, my parents had locked me in the cellar down below, so the monster wouldn't come after me, there was a tunnel leading into my father's pub from the cellar, and I ran after the creature burned down my home, and that was the night Dr. Frankenstein took me in, raising me as his daughter." I said "I'm sorry about your family, Miss Charity.." Dorian said "No need for the formalities, call me Charity." I said, taking his hand 'He had looked at me with softness in his eyes, I looked at him, he had pulled me in closer, I had brushed a small strand of my hair behind my ear.
