*Flashback to 1993, Solomon and Annie's wedding*

"Gwen, I'm terrified. She is my rock and my rolling thunder. I love that girl." Solomons hands were shaking, I've never seen him so scared and I've seen him in battle.
"Hey, listen. Shes your mate, she loves you just as much. Chill man, you are gonna get married and have tons of pups." I smacked him in the shoulder.

The music started to play, signaling us to come out of the room to the isle for him and Annie's wedding. He walked first to the end and stood next to their minister. I came out first, arms locked with a girl who was Annie's made of honor, where as I am the best man of course.

Everyone stared curious. I'll never forget the look on Solomons face when Annie walked out, he was in love. And it wasn't just the mate bond. It was a real bond.

*Present Day*
It's Rowan's birthday, and god I've been avoiding him all day. What if he's my mate, that would be weird. Oh shit here he comes, I tried to turn and run out of the door.
"Gwen!! Wait!!" I heard Rowan yelling as I took off out of the door, "Shit. Shit. Shit." And I turned around, only to see a girl standing with him, green smoldering eyes, and long brunette hair.
"Meet my mate, Lillian." His smile got bigger as her name rolled out of his mouth, her eyes lit up and her head shot up and I've never seen a girl more in love than when Annie and Solomons wedding happened.
I stuck my hand out, "I'm Gwen. How are you, and how old are you?" Lillian's hand stuck out shaking, "I'm a little nervous, and I am 18, but I've been 18 for about 25 years. I honestly almost gave up."

I seen the hurt in Rowan's eyes when she mentioned giving up. "I'm absolutely glad I didn't give up. He's perfect. How old are you..."

"188 years old, stubborn mate I guess keeps choosing someone else." I laughed to cover the hurt in my voice. I was upset and angry just a little bit. How come everyone gets to meet their mate so soon but I don't get to. Why me.

"It's 3 a.m. Now I wonder where you are. Caught in the waves of hesitation, lost in the sea of my own doubt endlessly. For you I'll always wait" I played my guitar and sang.

"Gwen..." I heard a little voice say, I look up and seen Rein, I wiped the tear from my eye, "Can't sleep sweetheart?" I asked as she crawled into my lap, "No. I'm not tired." She spoke quiet as she yawned. "what's wrong Gweny?" She rubbed her little eyes, "Just wondering where my mate is..." she drifted to sleep in my arms and I carried her back to bed. "Goodnight baby girl..."
