Have you ever loved a rose
                              and watched her slowly bloom;
                             and as her petals would unfold,
                              you grew drunk on her perfume.

Have you ever seen her dance,
           her leaves wet with dew;
and quivered a new romance —
the wind, he loved her too.

Have you ever longed for her,
                on nights that go on and on;
                 for now, her face is all a blur,
              like a memory kept too long.

Have you ever loved a rose,
                      and bled against her thorns;
and swear each night to let her go, then love her more by dawn.

Opal wouldn't sleep that night, knowing that Sami was in the same room as her. She dozed off several times, but always jumped awake at any noise. Every so often, she'd get up, and pace the room, careful not to wake Sami, even though she knew he was obviously awake. She finally fell into an extremely light sleep.

Sami runs his hands through his hair, sitting up when he hears light snores coming from Opal. He turns his phone on, instantly blinded by the brightness. He groans, turning the brightness down. He gets off the bed, heading to the washroom, turning the light on and closing the door behind him. He brings up the phone app, calling the only man he knew he could talk to about everything: Kevin.

Kevin picks up, "hey man, what's up?" Kevin says in a loud voice, causing a wince to escape Sami's mouth.

"Keep it down, Kevin," Sami hisses, "I did as you told me to, how did you know Opal had two beds in her hotel room?"

"Shit.... I thought there was only one. Damn it." Kevin says, quieting his tone down.

"What do you mean by that, Kevin? You wanted me to sleep in a bed with her?"

"That's a possibility," Kevin responds.

Sami groans, "I thought you were over trying to get us together."

"That," Kevin begins, "that'll never happen."

"Kevin, Opal absolutely hates me, you know that for a fact. I don't get your intentions in the slightest."

Kevin remains silent, thinking of something to say while Sami listens for any noise of Opal awakening.

"This really feels like one of those teen romance movies where a girl is sickly in love with some dude and she's calling her best friend for advice." Kevin finally says after the longest of time.

"Kevin, this seriously isn't the time for joking around." Sami can't help but laugh at Kevin's comment.

"She leaves tomorrow evening, you should ask her to have breakfast with her. She'll probably say no, but it's worth the shot to try and break the glacier thick ice between you." Kevin suggests. "And pay for everything, as well, if she says yes, of course, refuse to allow her to pay."

"Are you sure she'll say yes?"

"Nah, man, not at all." Kevin plainly answers.

Sami brings his palm to his forehead, sighing, "you're not helping at all, Kevin. Goodnight." Sami ends the call before Kevin can answer.
