47 b.c.

The Egyptians were in high doubts. Cleopatra had just allied with the Romans. And ever since, rumors had started. There was talk that said it was all set up so that Caesar can assassin their queen. Some even said that there queen was holding a Roman child.

There were two girls who didn’t seem to care much about anything that had to do with Romans. They were priestesses of Isis. Their names are Mert and Shemei. They were supposedly sent from the gods.

Shemei followed Mert out of the temple.

As the sudden wind blew, their robes started to change color. With each ripple of cloth, Shemei’s robes shifted from purple, to merlot, to black. Mert’s looked as if waves of sky blue, white, and gold were flowing down the fabric.

For what should have taken hours, took just few minutes for the two young women to walk to the deserts off of Cairo

When they stopped, a sand storm started up. In Mert’s hand, a golden scepter materialized. An identical onyx one took form in Shemei’s hands. The sand started to shift on the ground, faster and faster.  An invisible slit in reality spilt opened. The two women stepped in.

The whole closed behind them. The desert looked as if nothing had happened.

They walked for what seemed like hours, and yet, as short as minutes. It didn’t matter now, though. For they were now in a realm that knows no time. All the while, they said not even a word.

Up ahead, they could start seeing three shadowy figures. As they neared, they could start to make out the animal head of Seth; the jackal head of Anubis; and the sun disk atop Isis’s head.

“So,” Shemei started. “You three are the only ones who chose to appear?”

More would have come if you would have used your true names.” Seth stated.

“With what’s coming, it’s far too dangerous to use them aloud, even now.” Mert shot back.

“Calm down, young one.” Isis tried to sooth Mert. “You may be powerful, but you are with your elders.”

“Yes, she is right.” Anubis’s voice sounded old and wise. “But we haven’t come here to teach young goddesses their manors. We have come to discuss this alliance.”

“You have all heard about the upcoming danger, yes?” Shemei looked around the small group. From the looks on their faces, she got a yes. “We want the elite for when it comes. But right now, we just want to know that you will fight on our side for when it does come.”

The true Egyptian gods gave the two young goddesses their assurance.

Good. We hope you prosper until then.”
