It had rained all morning, the damp air was one of the few traces still left in this odd town. The cold stone steps were soaked, but i didnt care. I had no idea where I should go to get help. "Phillip..im so sorry." i weep into my knees. A shadow blocks the little light out today from veiw, causing me to look up. A man in a green suit is standing infront of me, looking at me with concern in his eyes. "What's wrong miss?" he asks. I bite my lip, debating whether he's ok to talk to. The concern in his eyes leads me to believe i can. "Several people i know are really sick, so i came all the way here to get some medicine." I answer, drying my eyes with the back of my sleave. "Well, how can i help?" he asks. I explain what the doctors said about Phillip and Lucy's condition then asked if he knew somewhere where i could get the proper medicine. The man nods, "I would be glad to help, you know the pharmacist down the street. He could help, just go talk to him." he replies with a kind smile. I stand and fold my hands infront of me, looking at him confused. "Sorry, i dont know this town at all. It's alot different from home." i say. He sighs, "Follow me, it's not like i have anywhere to be today." he says. I follow silently, watching the people pass by me as i walk. All of a sudden he stops, i barely stop in time so i wouldnt run into him. He turns around, "Where are my manners. I'm Arthur, Arthur Kirkland." he says with a smile. "and who might you be?" he asks. I smile, and curtsy slightly. "Everyone calls me Eden, but my real name is Ella." i reply.
Arthur looks at me concerned as we walk out of the store, my arms full of supplies whose names i've never heard. "Here let me take some of that, it's too much for you to carry." he says, taking over half the load. "Thank you, I'd never have found what i needed if you hadnt helped me." i say smiling. He shifts the boxes in his hands, "No problem miss." he replies.
We eventually get to the plane that got me here, and Arthur helps to put it on the plane. "Eden!! We've got to go, now!!" the pilot yells from the front of the plane. I turn to Arthur, "Would you want to come with me?" I ask, before thinking about what the Elder would do. Arthur nods and climbs aboard the plane behind me. We both take a seat in the empty plane and buckle up. The plane shakes slightly as it takes off, but it smooths out once we're off the ground. Arthur looks around the small cabin space and notices a map on the wall beside his seat. "Is that where your from? I've never know there was an island out that far in the pacific." He asks turning towards me. I nod, "Yeah, that's home. The only way off and on the island is by plane, most ships can't get past the siren's rocks." I reply.
An hour flies by and we finally land. I quickly stand and go to get as much of the supplies as i can. "Oh, the elder isn't going to like that i brought someone back with me...." i say to myself. Looking back to Arthur i sigh, 'It's not like hes one of the others of my kind, he seems to nice to be them. From what the elder told me they're supposed to be scary.' I think. With a shrug i lift the supplies in my arms and climb out of the plane. Arthur climbs out right behind me and he follows me into town. After passing several buildings someone steps infront of me. His hair is long and grey, with a beard and twinkling blue eyes. "Ella, what have i told you about leaving? What's even worse is that you brought back a stranger." the elder says, glancing back at Arthur. I bite my lip and look at my shoes. "Sorry sir." i reply. He just sighs and looks at me. "So who is this man you brought back with you?" he asks. "Hello sir. I'm Arthur Kirkland." Arthur says, stepping forward with a smile. The elder looks right at me, somthing not right about the way he looks at me. "Ella, go take that medicine to Phillip and Lucy's doctors. Felix! Help her carry those boxes please." he says to a blonde boy walking by. Felix nods and takes the boxes from arthur and one or two from me. The elder shoos me and Felix away, looking back at Arthur sternly.
-Arthur's P.O.V-
I watch her as she leaves, she's already busy chatting with Felix i think. Once Ella is out of sight the man infront of me sighs and looks me in the eyes. "I never expected her to bring YOU back with her, why couldn't it have been someone less harmless?" He says annoyed. I narrow my eyes, confused. "So, England, now that you know we're here what are you going to do? We won't give up our fair country without one bloody '3ll of a fight!" he says, stamping his cane on the dirt road. 'He sounds....British...' i think to myself. I shove my hands into my pockets and glance around. "So if this is a country, where is he or she?" I ask, curious to meet them. The old mans eyes narrow, "Don't worry, I give you my word i'm not going to harm them. I'm in no shape for a fight after that last world war Germany started." I say, not taking kindly to how he's looking at me. He sighs and leans on his cane, "You've already met them." he says, leaving me confused. "Felix?" i ask, thinking maybe it was him. The old man laughs, his cheeks turning bright red. "England, you really thought it was Felix? Our fair country, Felix..." He says and keeps laughing. I look up from the little man to see Ella, right as she drops somthing she had been carrying. Her eyes are wide and she turns to run, fear in her eyes. "Ella...? What's wrong?" i ask, the elderly man instantly turns on his heels. He's pretty fast for his years.
-Ella's P.O.V.-
I turn and go to run, instinctively reacting from the name Arthur had just been called. "Ella, wait!" He yells as i feel a hand tightly grab my wrist, stopping me in my tracks. "LET GO OF ME!!" I yell, tears running down my face. Fear shoots through me as i wiggle in his grasp. He doesnt let go but pulls me to face him, accidentally pulling me into his chest. I freeze, terror glueing me to the spot. Looking up at Arthur i notice his cheeks are turning a light pink, he pulls away slightly. "Sorry.." He says, looking away. I pull my wrist out of his grasp and back away only to be stopped by the elder. "Eden, it's ok. Arthur might be England, but he seemed to be telling the truth when he promised he wouldnt hurt you. There's no reason to fear him." He says, looking me in the eyes. Arthur looks at us confused, then with realization. "So your a country." He says, looking dumbfounded. I shyly nod, unable to meet his eyes. The elder laughs, "So you choose now to be quiet, your never this shy Eden. 100 bloody years and you've always been cheerful and talkative, except for...you know.." He says, proding me in the side with his elbow. I shiver at the last few words, but he did me the kindness of not mentioning HIS name. The man he was refering to still haunts me to this day, even after 80 years of being under better rule. Arthur narrows his eyes slightly, "How did we miss you for 100 years....That's a long time to go undetected..." He says smiling.
Our on the spot conversation is interuppted by a breif cough. Looking beside me i notice the elder giving me an annoyed look. "Well after it's getting late, and the next plane wont be ready till tomarrow. Eden, would you mind if Arthur stayed with you. I doubt Nerin and her siblings would mind having company too." He says, looking at us both. Arthur nods, "I wasn't planning on staying too long, I don't want to be a bother." He replies, looking at me for an answer. I nod, kinda nervous about having him in MY home. "Sure, but if so we need to get a move on...or it'll get dark before we reach the house." I say, grabing Arthurs hand. I smile and quickly drag him along, heading farther into the city, that soon i would have to leave for home.
