My heart skipped a beat as my friend nudged me. I found myself looking again. Her name was Kimberly Walker, my dream girl.
“Are you gonna answer the question Mr. Light?” asked my teacher in bio-chemistry, Mr. Barley.
“Can you repeat the question please?” I said.
“What is the periodical name for gold?”
“Au I think.”
“Correct. You’re lucky you are the best test scorer or I would flunk you. Now pay attention!”
I rolled my eyes at the thought that he cared what I did. It’s true, I was the top scorer on all the tests, but I just studied. When I was young my dad would yell at me if I got a B on a test. I guess I just got used to that to motivate myself.
I felt my eyes stray to Kim again. I knew I was going to be yelled at, but I just couldn’t help myself, her strawberry blond hair, her faded blue jeans with the hole in the knee. Her features were right too, the blue eyes with a shade of green. Her lips were light pink, and her skin was flawless. She wasn’t fat at all, but she wasn’t anorexic either.
She began to turn, but I was frozen in place. The bell buzzed and she stopped. I guess the saying is, “Saved by the bell.”
