"The Talk and the Next Class"

As I exited the class Mr. Barley stopped me, and called me to his desk. When the rest of the class left he began.

“Simon, what has gotten in to you? Your attention span has deteriorated, when I ask a question you have no idea what you are supposed to answer. Is there something going on at home?”

“Mr. Barley I’m fine. I just have a lot on my mind. I have been trying to figure out what I want to do with my life, and it’s not an easy decision.”

“Now Simon, that’s no excuse. I realize you’re in the tenth grade but don’t stress out over it. When you come in here tomorrow I want you to be completely focused for the chapter test.”

That little talk with him put me three minutes late and I had to run to get to my locker. When I finally did get my books I had to sprint and when I turned the corner the door was closing. I had to put my foot in the door to get in. Ms. Shaveel looked at me with curiosity. She is my English teacher.

“Simon would you like to explain why you’re so late?” she said.

“Mr. Barley kept me. He wanted to talk after class. Call him and ask if you don’t believe me.” I was officially mad. My teachers were questioning me, and it was true. I was stressed, but not about what I want to do. It was because I have crushed myself over Kim since the fourth grade, and still I haven’t built up the courage to ask her on a date.

“Perhaps you can arrive on time tomorrow or I’ll have to give you detention,” she said.

Did she not just hear me?! I was kept by another teacher, and she blames me. How could she? No, how dare her. Whatever, I just went and sat down.

“Dude I saw you staring at Kim again. I can ask her out for you,” my best friend Jeremy Valarky said.

“No!” I blurted out a little too loudly. “No, I mean. Stop talking you’ll get us in trouble. If you really want to talk about this, come over to my house today. After all it is Friday.”

“Okay,” he said.
