It has been bothering me all last night. I couldn't even turn up at the dance. Why did Jordyn leave after I kissed her? Was she embarrassed? Was she scared?

Was my kissing bad? Nah, that can't be it. I've been trying to contact her, but Jay will start questioning us and probably try to fight me because I kissed his cousin that he's overprotective about.

That kiss was a big move. I have never expected myself to do that, but I did and I enjoyed it. I was pretty happy when she kissed back instead of pushing me away because girls her type wouldn't really appreciate it.

"Dare, dinner is ready." My mom knocks on my door, then slowly opens it.

I smile.  I love my mom. She's my world. She's the definition of a lady that you should marry. "I'm coming." I get off my bed.

"I forgot to ask, how was the dance?" She walks over and sits down.

"Oh I know why you forgot." I chuckle and she hits me upside my head. "The dance was better than I thought." I face her. "I have a question."

"Hit me."

"My friend met this girl and he thinks that she's different from any other girl he have met or dated. They kissed and then she ran away. What does suppose to mean?" I sigh. "I need some advice to give him." I play it off.

"Who is it Darius?" Of course. She's my mom, she'll catch me in a lie.... Most of the time. "Who is the girl that has you thinking about tinker bell and unicorns?"

"How'd you figured out it was me?"

"I'm your mom. I know you Darius." She adjusts herself on the bed.

"Her name is Jordyn, She's very smart, she respects herself, a football fan. Mom she's everything a man wants. I just don't understand why she ran away after kissing me back."

She nods in understanding. "She's scared. I used to be the same way with your father." She sucks her teeth. "I hear the conversations the two of you have occasionally and I slap the back of his head all of the time. I also noticed how you have a drawer filled with condoms."

She changed the subject really quickly.  "Why is she scared?" I raise an eyebrow. "So you've been peeping through my stuff." I felt like a white kid.

She shrugs, "That's the thing you have to ask her. It might be because of the Carter legacy." She stands up. " If you cleaned your room, I wouldn't have to."

"Will y'all get y'all asses down here. I'm hungry." My dad shouts.

My mom and I laugh. "Lets go," She wraps her arm around my shoulder. "My babies are growing up so fast." She kisses my forehead.

"Oh mom."

"Oh, and I want to meet the girl and thank her for making my son want to finally settle down."

"I never said that."

"Like I said, you're my son and always will be. I know you Darius." She repeats.

"Whatever you say mom."

"Yea, it is whatever she says, now sit y'all ass down so we can say grace and eat." My father berates. Never mess with him when he's hungry or with his food. He be tearing it up. Shoot, don't us all? I'm not really hungry, which is why I'm not acting the way he is.

"My turn to say grace." My mom says as she sits. We all hold hands and my mom says a wonderful prayer.

"Amen." We all say at the same time and start to grub.

"Oh hunny, Darius finally met a girl."

My dad looks back from my mom to me. "Really?" He smiles.

"Yes, but after they kissed she ran away."

"See..." My dad swallows. "I don't know why women do that. Your mom did the same shit years ago. She was the only girl I chased after." He looks at my mom. "Boy, she made me run."

"What happened after that?" I ask.

"Your father showed me that he can change his ways. He made sure to show me that I am his one and only." She smiles while looking at my father.

I smile. My parents are an amazing couple. "Yeah. I put all them hoes aside." He looks at my mom and smiles. "But it was worth it. We got married and had you and your sister." This shit is pretty romantic and watching them share their connection, makes me want a relationship like theirs. Making of love, long conversations, play fighting, and more.

"Go after her son. You won't regret it. She's scared. You're a Carter. What we want is what we'll get."

I nod. He's right. I am a Carter and I want Jordyn. I'm going to get her no matter what or who gets in the way.

After dinner and having a little family chat, I left my parents downstairs and ran to my room. I grabbed my phone and scanned through my contacts. After minutes of searching, I just remembered that I never got Jordyn's number. The closest I have is Jay's cellphone and their house number.

I should probably call the house phone since there's a high possibility that she might pick up before anybody else, but what the fuck will I say. Why am I acting like a bitch. I need to pull myself together and get this shit over with. I dial Jay's house number. Two rings has gone by so far and on the fourth one...... "Hello?"

I know that's not Jay because he would've questioned me from the beginning on why did I call his house phone instead of his cell.

I know that's not his mom because she would've greeted me with an "Darius sweetie." And I most definitely know what's not his dad because...... Well, he never picks up the phone and the voice I heard wasn't deep.

"Jordyn...?" I take a deep breath. "We need to talk....."
