After wandering around the halls lost, Nick finally found the front office. How could he have missed it?! It was right under his nose the whole time!
Shaking his head, he pulls open the door to walk in to the large room. He threw his coffee cup into the trash before wiping his hands on his pants as he takes a deep breath.Nick walks up to the counter "Good morning, ma'am."
'Manners, always use them, never lose them. You never know what someone is going through and it just might make their day' is something Nick always believed in and told himself.
But by the looks of it, the woman wasn't having any of it. Nick looked down as he bit on his lower lip.
"What do you want, kid?" she asks.
Nick furrowed his brows at her rudeness "I'm new here. My name is Nick. Nick Groff."
"Have a seat" she says "I'll call you when you're needed."
Scrunching up his nose, Nick walked over to the small row of chairs that was lined up against the wall. Letting out a sigh, he sat down in one of the chairs.
Why was this lady being such an ass? He didn't do any wrong. He just didn't understand. Pushing that to the back of his mind, Nick chewed nervously on his bottom lip. He just wanted this day to be over with already.Twenty minutes later, school had already started and Nick was still sitting in the same chair waiting for the woman to still call him.
Letting out a sigh, Nick stood up and walked back up to the counter "Excuse me, but I have been waiting twenty minutes. Am I going to start school today or are you going to be rude and ignore me while pretending that I don't exist? Because if you are, I would love to talk to the principal and make sure that you get fired for being rude and hostile to a student. Then I'll make sure that your life is a living hell."
Holy shit! Where in the hell did that confidence come from? That was so not Nick. He is more of the hide in the background or corner shy type of guy."Are you threatening me, kid?" she asks.
"Call it what you want" Nick says "But it's not a threat. It's a promise. So, what's it gonna be?"
"Sit back down" she says in the most rude manner.
Nick crossed his arms over his chest and gave her a challenging look "Which is it going to be? You going to let me start school or am I just going to sit here in this damn chair all day long? Because this is getting ridiculous."
"I said sit back down" she repeats.
"That's it!" Nick's voice raised "I have had enough of your attitude!"With that being said, Nick walked around the counter and made his way down the hallway looking for the principal's office. Once he found it, he knocked on the door and waited for it to be opened or given permission to enter.
Nick looked up when the door finally opened "Good morning sir."
A tall man wearing a nice white button up shirt with a blue tie and a pair of blue slacks stood in the door way and repeated Nick's greeting
"Good morning. Shouldn't you be in class?"
"That's the thing, sir" Nick said feeling a bit nervous "The woman told me to sit down. Which, I did do. She told me she'd call me, I have been waiting for nearly an hour. She is refusing to give me any information and my schedule. She has been very rude to me."
"Come on in" the principal says as he moved out the way to allow the younger male to step in "We'll get everything situated."
Nick quietly walks into the room and glances around. Pictures and documents hung up on the walls. A typical principal's office.
"What is your name?" The principal asks.
Nick turns around to look at the principal "Nick. Nick Groff."
The principal made his way over to his desk. Sitting down, he logs in to his computer "Nice to meet you Nick. I'm Mr. Davis, and as if you probably already figured out by now, I am the principal."
Nick nods his head as he say down in one of the two chairs in front of the desk. Mr. Davis picked up the school phone off his desk and pages a student to his office. Nick furrowed his brows confused. He didn't understand why Mr. Davis did that. Why would he call a student into his office if he was supposed to be helping him? Tilting his head to the side, Nick watched as Mr. Davis typed away on his computer before he excused himself.A few moments later, Mr. Davis returns with some papers in hand- which he hands over your Nick "Here's your schedule."
Taking the paper from him, Nick gives a slight nod "Thank you."Nick looks down at the piece of paper in his hand before going to stand up. He thought that since it's his first day there would be someone to show him around, show him where his classes are, and to help keep him from getting lost. But by the looks of it, that wasn't going to happen.
Well, that was until Nick walked right into someone as he made his way to the door- which makes him stumble backwards. Slowly lifting his head up to look at what he walked into, his jaw dropped when he finally saw what- or in this case, who- it was.
He was the same exact height as Nick. He has short dark black- pitch black, black as midnight- hair styled into a fohawk. His body was of the athletic built. His clothes clung tightly to his body, showing off all the dips and curves of his muscles.
Nick could feel all eyes on him as he stared at the most handsome eye candy that he has ever seen. He drops his head as he feels the blood rush to his cheeks causing him to blush in embarrassment. But he couldn't help the smile that crept on to his face.
"Okay... If we are done drooling and staring at each other, we can move on" Mr. Davis said, feeling awkward "Zak this is Nick. Nick this is Zak. Zak will be helping you out today. He'll be showing you where your locker is, as well as your classes. If you have any questions, feel free to ask Zak. I am sure that he will be glad to help you and answer any questions you may have."
"Of course I would Mr. Davis!" Zak says with a smile "Welcome Nick. I think you're going to love it here."
"You boys may go" Mr. Davis dismisses them "Behave.""So Nick," Zak starts as they made their way out the principals office "if you don't mind me asking, but where are you from?"
"Well, I was born in San José, California. But I was raised in New England" Nick answered as he trailed behind Zak, suddenly feeling like his shy self that he normally was, more so now since Zak was very attractive "Wh-what about you?"
"Believe it or not, I'm from here" Zak kind of chuckles "It's not bad. What made you move here? Of all the places."
"My dad got a promotion" Nick answers "And this is where the job led us."
"That's pretty cool" Zak flashes Nick a smile "I have a feeling that we are going to be the best of friends!"
Nick couldn't stop the smile that appeared on his face. It's only his first day and he already has a best friend "Best friends? Me and you?"
Zak nods his head "Yeah! Everyone can use one. Even the new kid... Can I see your schedule? It'll help me to know where I have to take you."
"Oh! Right. School" Nick chuckles nervously as he handed his schedule over to Zak "Here."
"Yeah. That thing that we have to go to five days a week. Ya'know, that huge ass building? Yeah, that thing is what people around here calls a school. Pretty wild, if you ask me" Zak takes the paper out of Nick's hand and looks it over "Dude! No way!"
Nick shifted from one foot to the other as he watched Zak. The sudden loudness and excitement made Nick jump.
"Wh-what? Something wrong?" Nick stuttered. He was now worried that his schedule some how made Zak change his mind about being his friend.
Zak shakes his head as he looked over the schedule twice more to make sure he was seeing what he thought he was "No! No! Nothing is wrong."
"Then what is it?" Nick asked.•••••••••••
