In 2012, YG Entertainment's CEO announced that they were planning on putting together a new girl group.
That plan never worked out and the entertainment was left without their 2nd girlgroup
In 2016, yg soon announced he was finally creating a new girl group after a dance practice video of 4 girls was published on YG Entertainments YouTube channel. People were speculating that after 7 years YG was creating yet another 4-membered girl group. The group contained: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa.
In June and July of 2016 YG released pictures of the members one by one based on the number of years they trained with Jennie (trained 6 years), Lisa (trained 5 years), Jisoo (5 years(?)) and Rosé (4 years)
