Chapter 5: Smile

"Are...are you okay?", Jean asked. "Y...yeah. I'm fine", Connie said,"I just feel stupid for not asking her. I think I'm just too scared that she'll refuse...Stupid feelings!" He slammed his head on his pillow loudly causing Reiner to moan and turn around. "Hey...you should ask her already", Jean said, trying to comfort him." I mean, you are not the smartest... And not as good-looking as me", he said while flipping his hair back and forth, afterwards smiling at him,"But I am sure she likes you the same way you like her!" He gave Connie a honest smile and went back sleeping. "Yeah...Whatever", Connie said and got up. He couldn't fall asleep anyway now.

He was thinking about what to do now. Everyone else was sleeping, except Lance Corporal Levi, but Connie couldn't think about what they could even do together. Drinking a cup of tea? No...even how Levi held his cup was scary enough for Connie. He sighed and walked around a bit. For his own surprise, he saw someone. Maybe it's Armin or Eren, he thought, We sure could do something fun! But that person was neither Armin, nor Eren. It was Sasha.

"Hey, Connie!", Sasha yelled, "Whazzup?" "Shhh!", Connie whispered aggressively, "The others are sleeping you idiot!" He slightly turned bright pink and apologized to her: "Sorry...I didn't mean to call you an idiot..." "No no no no it's okay", Sasha replied quickly. "Besides...", she smirked, "I have something for you" She pulled out a letter out of her jacket and gave it Connie. "But you have to promise that you open it on your birthday!", Sasha said.  "I promise", Connie answered while keeping a sassy attitude and goofing around with Sasha. But internally he couldn't wait for the three days remaining to his birthday to end.
