"Ah... It's finally over." a classmate said.

"Whew, those finals were more difficult than I thought." I sighed.

Hey, what's up audience, the name's Liam Coyle age 17 and a charismatic fool to a fault. Why am I here? Well, I don't know, I just came to achieve my dreams. What are my dreams? Well, that's a little harder to explain. You see, in this world I have to make sure I can keep up with the students around me to rise to the top. Learning isn't all that easy you know. People rarely get to do it these days so there's competition. The politics up in the palace is pretty messy if you ask me. I'm just saying it should be changed. Man, if I was up there, I'd disperse this kind of form of government. I mean, sure we have some democracy, but c'mon, it doesn't seem that easy for it. But now I'm blabbing so let's get back to where we were.

"Well, not for you, huh, Mister Lucky." my classmate and friend teased at me as he elbowed me while we were walking out of the building.

I laughed, a little embarrassed "Now you know that's not true."

It actually is, but I don't really wanna be remembered for that.

"See you tomorrow then Lucky Liam!" he smirked as he left to walk the opposite direction that his house was in.

Yes, that's what they call me. That's what everybody calls me. Well, everybody who speculates of course. I suppose I should tell you more about me huh, but, you probably don't care, and if you do, thank you.

Where to start though... I guess we'll start with my family. I guess you could say it's a bit dysfunctional. Dad loves beer, mom died when I was three, although no one knows why... and I, well I'm their only son. Dad's a bit of a drunk and he always has people around, sometimes (mostly) women, but he's a good guy. Never did anything against me or anyone around him. I promise you, he's the best guy you'd want on your side. I'm not just saying that for his reputation either. He's truly... great.

Ah, you can see through that? I guess I did falter at the end, heh. Don't worry, it's nothing too bad. Besides, I should appreciate that I even have a roof under my head. Guess you could say I'm pretty lucky to even have shelter and food on the table. Lucky Liam getting the things he wants through sheer luck. Yup that's me.

What else to say, well, I'm a scholar of sorts. Graduated high school at 15, got a scholarship to a University in the area. It's one of the best though, I don't think I'd be able to go anywhere else even if I had the money. I like to play card games, chess, and well, I think I'm quite good with the ladies if I do say so myself. Not trying to brag but I got a girl who's really cool and fun to be around. I'd tell you her name, but then you'd blab about me to the others and I'd prefer to keep it quiet, you get me?

"I'm home!" I call out to, it seems, an empty house.

Sometimes this happens, either he's working or he's out with his buds looking for women. Well, nothing I can do about that, as long as he isn't home, I can study in peace.

I grab some milk from the fridge and some peanuts, walk into my room and close the door. Technically, the room is also my father's business affairs room, but we won't get into that.

I guess my dream is to leave the place I'm in right now and climb to the top and mark history.
