It all started with a dream.
It was cold outside, that much was obvious with my breath visible in front of me. I looked down at myself, dressed in only jeans and a T-Shirt. So much for warmth. I looked around, and finally noticed my surroundings. I seemed to be in a forest, one that seemed to be awfully familiar. I walked, desperate to find a source of warmth. I rubbed my hands together, wishing aloud that I had a fire at least, when the strangest thing happened. One started. Right in the palms of my hands. Sure, it was odd, but I though "Why Not?". It was a dream after all, so I do suppose anything is possible. Then, I must have done something wrong, because the fire, a small thing at first, cranked up to a full-blown blaze. It consumed me, crawling up my arms and spreading across my chest, as if there was nothing else to give it life except for me. Oddly enough...it didn't hurt. I felt no heat on the rest of body, just a tingling sensation where the fire was. Then, it caught onto a low branch next to me, and the tree lit up like a torch. The flames almost lovingly crawled up the tree, as if it knew I couldn't do anything. It spread, like a disease, going from tree to tree, all of it kindle, and I, the match. I was so shocked by what had ocurred all I could do was sit and watch as the world burned around me. That's when I heard it. A very distinct cracking sound. I looked up, the fire had taken hold of a very old branch, threatening to collapse. I tried to scramble to my feet, but I tripped on a root, and only succeeded in sitting back down again. Then the branch fell. I raised my hands to cover my face, and as the world went black, I passed out to the smell of burning wood.

I woke up in a cold sweat, still reeling from the dream. My sheets, absolutely soaked with my sweat. As I untangled myself from my sheets, I thought to myself, "What was up with that dream? It seemed so real" I ran my fingers through my hair, entirely perplexed over this turn of events. I stood and stretched, and as I turned back to my bed, I noticed something black on my bed, I peeled back my covers, and what I saw left me speechless. Scorch marks, in the exact shape and size of my hands. I looked down at my hands, wondering if I was still dreaming. I had only one question. "What the hell is happening to me?"
