Love is patient (KickThePJ, Dan and Phil)

America

So we found out we were going to have twins? Yes. We had been all set to have them until we realised that a YouTube convention: Playlist Live, fell right before the due date.

Enfys wasn't allowed to fly at that point and she didn't want to go so heavily pregnant, but she urged me to go. Did I go? Yes, but only because Enfys insisted that I did and that she would be ok.

So I kissed her goodbye, for as long as possible, then got in a taxi with Dan and Phil, who had decided to leave baby Jack with Phil's family. As we got to the airport they had been talking about how excited they were and what they would do in America. I had decided to just stay quiet and think about Enfys. All these worries spinner around my head. I was imagining birth, in the living room, messy, painful.

Did that happen? Well of course not, but I checked up on her as much as I could. She had her old school friend, Emily, staying with her to make sure she was ok. I texted her as soon as we got to America:

Me: We've just touched down in America
Enfys: Yay! I've just been watching TV all day

I think now is the time to mention that Enfys, she was not a stereotypical girl. Enfys didn't eat barely anything to maintain her slim figure. Enfys didn't try to be dainty and cute. She definitely was dainty and cute sometimes but the image of her watching TV, all day, was one that brought happiness to mind. She always liked to have Netflix marathons and spread herself along the sofa like kinetic sand. That's the only real way to describe how she would sit there, she just moved into every gap she could reach. Now when Enfys watched TV all day with me, we would sit together under a blanket with snacks. She'd usually fall asleep on me, sometimes giving me pins and needles but I didn't care, I wanted her to be happy. Although right now I could only imagine her alone, with nobody to fall asleep on.

Me: What have you been watching?
Enfys: The mighty boosh

Another thing about Enfys, the mighty boosh was one of her favourite TV shows. What was it? Well, in the early 2000s, British comedy was all quite random but so well timed and thought out that it was difficult not to laugh at it. The mighty boosh was almost a sketch show, it had some main characters, Vince, Howard, Naboo and Bollo. Vice was trendy and stylish whilst Howard was weird and kind of nerdy. Naboo was a kind of wizard guy who had lots of magic stuff and Bollo was his assistant. He was a gorilla. Then there was lots of smaller characters that appeared at different moments, the moon was a personal favourite. So I decided to do something that I knew would make her better, quoting the mighty boosh:

Me: It's impossible to be unhappy in a poncho
Enfys: Where's my frog gone?
Me: You smoked it last night
Enfys: Oh yeah
Me: When you are the moon
Enfys: Saturn
Enfys: Jupiter
Enfys: Mars
Enfys: Pluto
Enfys: George
Enfys: Chr-Chrissy
Enfys: That is a list of my best friends in order.
Enfys: Order of preference
Me: You're about as edgy as a satsuma
Enfys: I haven't got any eyebrows but I think that gives me a bit more of an edge
Me: I'm the sheriff of stationary village
Enfys: The thing is, Howard, it doesn't matter how old you are. Bouncy castles are still genius.
Me: A wolf attacked me, but fortunately I had a pistol hidden in my moustache.
Enfys: I don't need him, I already have a shallow mate who dresses like a futuristic prostitute
Me: Don't mess with the occult
Enfys: I thought it was good for you? Good for your digestive system?
Me: that's yakult!

And the quoting went on for ages. Why do I remember them all? Well when you live with Enfys, you end up watching it a lot. She loved the mighty boosh and always watched it if she needed a laugh. Especially the first episode where one of them fights a kangaroo. I could tell that she missed me. I, too, missed her, so we texted mighty boosh quotes back and forth for a long time.

For the rest of playlist, I just kept to myself, head down, stay quiet, think about Enfys. Many times I was asked if something was wrong. I said no and kept my head down. Really it was though. I could become a parent any moment and wouldn't be there to witness the moment. That's when Enfys texted me:

Enfys: Dan says you're being quiet. Is everything ok?

Another reason why I loved her so much, even though she was the main concern, she put her problems aside to make sure everyone else was alright.

Me: Yeah. Just missing you and worrying that something will happen without me.
Enfys: Don't feel like that Peej. I miss you too but I'll manage without you and I have Emily with me.
Me: Make sure they take care of you. And text me if anything happens.
Enfys: Nothing will happen PJ, it'll be fine.

And with that I was sped along to a panel. I didn't want to go to the panel. All I had to talk about was Enfys and the panel was not about her. So I went and I tried my best. My best didn't seem to be good enough, however, as I was asked if I was ok many times and I kept checking my phone. If she was in labour right now, I wouldn't be able to get to her in time. I started to regret going out there. I spent the whole time ready to somehow rush back to her if I got a fateful text.

Did I? No. She went into labour after playlist live when I was with her. Four in the morning to be exact. You want to know about that? Well, young one, you shall have to come back another time. You shall have to be patient like I was. Patience is a difficult skill, young one, learn it and keep it.
