Bad things

So Haf had been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and I was still in hospital with my foot, what happened next? Well that was a dark time. I knew that Haf would stay in the hospital for a while so they could do more tests. I knew that my foot was difficult to repair and that I'd be there for a while too. I predicted that Enfys would take the news badly.

That's when Dan texted me:
Dan: She's hardly left the house. When she did today she looked almost dead. She was pale and bony. Not herself.

I'd thought this might happen. I thought the best thing to do was to text her about it:

Me: Dan told me he saw you leaving to go to the shops today and you looked ill. Please tell me you're looking after yourself.
Enfys: I just haven't slept in a while.
Me: Is that all?
Enfys: Maybe I haven't eaten much either.
Me: Enfys please take care of yourself. I don't want all of my family in hospital.

I was honestly scared that she was going to die at that point. She kept saying that because she carried Haf, she was the reason for Haf's condition. I begged the doctors everyday to let me go home. Eventually we were all at home and I could make sure Enfys was ok. She was eating enough but I could tell that she was still fighting her thoughts. She didn't smile anymore and she didn't sing at all. The singing always helped to tell how she was feeling but I knew that no singing meant bad things.

Did she get better? We'll eventually she did. We had a charity called The white lodge centre recommended to us. It was a place near to where she grew up that supported disabled people of all ages. Haf met lots of people with similar conditions to her and Enfys met parents who had felt the same way as her. They both learned that they were normal. They also learned that eventually, Haf would be able to walk.

Did she walk? Well, young one, that is the next part of the story. Love is patient and you must be too.
