Walking home, I was still in a prissy mode.

I had been fine after math and science for a while. Well, at least until language arts. Ana had language arts as her last class of the day too, it just made it even less enjoyable.

Ana had an obvious crush on me, which Jasper took as a challenge.

My mom called just a few minutes earlier saying I had to go over to Jasper's to spend the night because she wasn't going to be back until 3:00 AM and didn't want to wake me up. She knew I was a light sleeper.

This sort of thing didn't happen very often, but often enough that Jasper and his family were prepared.

We got to the apartments, and Jasper followed me inside my apartment. I grabbed a few things before locking up and heading down to Jasper's.

There was a silence that was following us around like a third wheel. I say this because silence, like most third wheels, is very hated and unwanted among us. It was usually Jasper who kept the conversation going. I hate to admit it, but I might lose sanity without his blabber mouth quieting down my thoughts.

Opening the door was like walking through a portal to another dimension.

His parents were the 'always encouraging and super positive' kind. They were fun to be around, but sometimes were a bit too clingy. Jasper, being an only child, got him loads of unwanted attention.

That's probably why we were friends. I need more attention and he needs less.

Me, having the social skills of a potato, and just wanting to strangle something, gave a little smile here and there before disappearing in Jasper's room. I took his bed, pulling out a computer and beginning to catch up on some cases I had missed. There was always something new in the city, and since his parents don't watch the news I have to catch up for what I missed on my own.

Jasper gladly took a spot next to me and my laptop. We scrolled through multiple news websites, watching tons of news stories and broadcasts. Nothing.

I closed my laptop with, even more aggravated than before. I gave out an angry puff from my nose and crossed my arms over my chest. Not only was I pissed about a stupid teenage girl, I was now pissed about the lack of activity the police were doing. If only they had just listened.

Jasper looked over at me, obviously concerned. He took the computer from my lap, placing it on the floor. He slid down into a laying position from his previous sitting one. He let out a big sigh and said,

"You want to talk about it?"

I sighed, sliding down next to Jasper. There was silence again before I sighed and decided to say, "I don't know where to start."

"How 'bout that blonde enemy of ours ?" I sucked in a breath, fire and bloodlust growing in my eyes, before finally letting out a growl.

"I bloody hate that goddamn woman." Is all I can say to put my hatred into words.

"You and me both." Jasper replied.

"No. You don't understand." Are the words that got me ranting about 'how damn stupid she was' and 'how much I hate people touching me.' I didn't realize until dinner was ready that Jasper had said those words on purpose. Damn, he's good at getting things out of me. Was all I could think.

Dinner was as lively as ever in the Smith household. They were super open and accepting about Jasper's sexuality and brought the subject of me being 'the perfect boyfriend material' was brought up a few times. It made me uncomfortable, but it was funny watching Jasper's face when being let down for the 57th time in our friendship.

After dinner, Jasper set up a air mattress to sleep on. Him, not me. Like I said, I'm a light sleeper. It would feel like hell to sleep on that, and jasper didn't want to upset me.

We both had pajamas on and fresh, minty breaths. The room was dark and everything went still. All the dogs barking, and sirens screaming suddenly went silent.

I closed my eyes and fell asleep to the sound of Jasper's breath.
