The sun was setting on a long day, leading to probably an even longer night. I was resting on a tree branch like I do every other day and stared at the sunset. It was a pretty orange and red, almost like VanGoh had used his paintbrush to gracefully paint over the skies. There was something special about today, it was no ordinary day. It was the anniversary of when the air nomads were wiped out and there was only one left; technically it was me. I mean, I never was close to the civilization but I owe them my life for teaching me what I know, even though they didn't mean to. Sure I watched the classes from the windows and practiced outside but they still taught me. I wish I could've helped them out but I was too afraid to save them, I didn't even put an effort into the fight. I believe that everything happens for a reason, if fate didn't want them to disappear then they wouldn't have. Oh well, can't do anything about it now, the most I can do is protect their land from evil which I have been doing since I was fourteen. I closed my eyes and rested for a couple minutes, feeling the last bits of sunlight hit my cheeks. The heat felt nice on my skin and then all I felt was cold. I opened my eyes once again and saw that the sun had finally set.
I jumped down from my tree and stealthily ran through the trees of the forest looking for trouble. A couple hours passed and nothing had happened, it was a slow night and I was getting bored. I had pulled my quiver off of my back to pack more arrows into it since I had been practicing my shooting earlier. Luckily I have an extra stash of arrows hidden in the forest, a place where only I would know of. I was loading up the barrel shaped holder when I suddenly heard a cry. However, it wasn't a cry for help and it wasn't a plea for mercy which is common for this area. I got confused and when I analyzed the voice further it sounded like a female saying, "Let my friends go!". I put the quiver back on my back and sprinted quietly to the sound of the voice.
When I reached the destination, I saw a total of six people. Two of them looked like siblings, one boy and one girl, with blue robes, probably from one of the water tribes. Another two looked like soldiers with fire nations attire on, they were standing in front of the last two people. One was a small girl with faded out eyes and earth kingdom clothing while the other looked a lot like an air nomad. He had blue arrows on his body and had a bald head, both of them had their hands tied behind their backs. Not wanting to get into anything that I wasn't needed in, I stayed hidden until the situation got out of hand. The two blue clothed people walked up towards the fire nation soldiers, the female speaking first. "I said let them go! Why do you need our friends?" She shouted at them. The fire soldiers chuckled and folded their arms, looking amused.
"The avatar is wanted by prince Zuko and why not help him in his plan by capturing him ourselves? Besides, the earth bender is just in the way, so why not take her out as well?" One of the fire soldiers said. I looked at the air and earth bender and saw help and fear in their eyes, though I knew I shouldn't intervene just yet.
"Leave them alone!" The male sibling said. He pulled out his weapon and the girl began to water bend. This'll be interesting, they don't stand a chance against two professional fire nation soldiers but lets just see how they do. They began to attack the fire nation members and in a matter of seconds the water tribe siblings were backed up and helpless. Guess it's time for me to help.
I pulled an arrow out of my quiver and aimed it at the two soldiers, not wanting to hit anything vital but to hit them both in the back of the neck. Not close enough for them to bleed but close enough to scrape the skin and inflict pain. Once I had locked on target I let the arrow loose and it hit the two fire nation soldiers. Once it did, they backed away and held the back of their necks. I looked back over at the siblings and they had a look of shock on their faces, as did their friends that were tied up. "Show yourself, coward!" The fire soldier shouted. I narrowed my gaze at them to see if they really wanted to mess with me. "Or are you too afraid to show yourself to the mighty fire nation?" He shouted and chuckled as did the other. I decided to have a little fun, however instead of firing another arrow, I put my bow away and shot a blast of air at them. They stumbled on their feet and fell onto their backs. By this point the water siblings were using the distraction to their advantage and went to go untie their friends.
While the soldiers were on the ground I jumped off my tree branch and my body was illuminated by the moon's bright light. My white shirt showed off my curves and my small chest, my mouth was covered by a white mask and my white jogger style pants were dirtied. "Now look what you made me do," I said coldly. "You made me get my pants dirty, now that wasn't very nice." I walked towards them and they began to cower back in fear. "Do you know how hard it is to get dirt out of white clothing?" I asked rudely. They looked scared but then that fear was washed away when they realized who I was.
"It's just a girl, we can take her." One of them said and they both stood up in fighting stances. They began to fight in sync against me and I dodged each of their attacks. Some punches and kicks and also some fire bending were involved. This went on for a couple of minutes and the soldiers began to grow tired and it was my turn to attack. I blasted wind towards them and they were pushed back into the forest, crushing some trees in the process. I walked over to them and grabbed their collars and looked at them with intimidation.
"I don't want to see you two here again and if I do I won't be letting you off so easily. Got it?" I asked growling. They nodded their heads quickly and I let them go. They ran away screaming like wimpy little girls, and they call themselves "great fire nation soldiers". I sighed and looked over to see the group of four happily together again. I smiled under my mask and began to make my retreat when one of their voices stopped me.
"Wait!" a male voice said. I turned around to see the bald headed kid with the blue arrows stand up and slowly walk towards me. "Thank you for saving my friends and I, can we know who you are?" He asked with a genuine smile on his face. I couldn't help but blush a tad from his charm and I saw the glare from the female water tribe girl.
"I'm known as the white assassin." I said and turned my head back towards the forest. I began to walk but stopped when I had finally realized who i had just saved. "We'll see each other again Avatar." I said and then sprinted back into the forest jumping onto a tree branch. I looked back at the group of four and they had looks of shock on their faces and I couldn't help but giggle at them. I was running back towards the middle of the forest for the sun was rising to signal a new day. I smiled to myself as I watched it rise and thought about what I had said. "You will be seeing me again, in this get up however I don't know." I muttered to myself and began to watch the sunrise by myself.
