The Day She Left

She had always dreamed of a life that was perfect,
Of a time when she could stand out.
But as she grew older,
And time slipped away like sand through fingers,
She knew she didn't have a chance.

She had dreamed of a life,
So wonderful and loving,
Yet instead she went home and cried till morning.
She wanted someone, anyone really,
To look at her and see her as more than silly.

Finally she gave up trying,
Life was too hard anyways,
And no one would care if one person disappeared.
And so she thought no one, not one person would care,
If she disappeared, out of everyone's hair.

But then one day, close to her end,
Someone came up to her and took her hand.
"Life is life, I know it's hard as a nut, but we'll come out okay, I swear."
And from that day on, the girl walked on,
Never wondering about that day when she might have gone.

She forgot about her pain,
But only for a while.
The girl thought it would be okay, really and truly.
But in the end,
Her end came early.
