Amara and I were in Amara's room, getting pizza and a movie ready, with Aiden.
"Ah, Netflix, what do you recommend to fill the void while Sam and Dean are out on a hunt?" I asked. We laid down on Amara's bed. "Speak to me."
Amara laughed, turning the TV on.
Sam and Dean walked in.
"Wow," Amara told them. "You look terrible. What's wrong?"
Sam chuckled.
"Sure, we'd love to come in," Dean told us, walking inside.
Sam followed. "Hey, there."
"Didn't know that you were back from the hunt in Brookings yet," I told them.
"Yeah, we wanted to surprise you guys," Sam told us.
"And you couldn't take a shower first?" Amara asked teasingly.
"Ha ha," Dean told her sarcastically. "Figured we'd watch a movie with you guys. You know, take the rest of the weekend off." He took Aiden from me, holding him up in the air. "Hey, there, little guy."
Dean started to gently toss Aiden playfully.
Aiden laughed.
We smiled.
They looked at the movie we were watching
"You watching some kind of chick flick here?" Sam asked.
"It was Amara's choice," I told them.
"And, I'm a chick," Amara told us. "We both are, or did you forget?"
Sam smirked.
"No, no, no, you're--you're badass hunter chicks," Dean told us. "You're not rom com chicks. Wait, are you rom com chicks?"
"Are you?" Amara replied. I smiled. "I remember everything that you remember, Dad, and I remember that you still watch soap operas with Mom."
Sam and I laughed.
I smirked, nodding. "Mm-hmm." Sam smiled, leaning forward. The phone rang. I stood. "I need to leave this scintillating conversation."
I walked out to answer the phone. When I answered the phone, it was to realize that someone had died, walking past Amara's room on the way to Dean's and my room.
Apparently, they saw that I was upset, following me.
"Mom?" Amara asked.
I got to the room, packing a bag.
Amara, Dean and Sam walked in.
"Ness, what's up?" Sam asked.
"Friend of mine died," I answered.
"Who?" Amara asked.
"Asa Fox," I answered.
Amara sighed.
Dean frowned. "Asa Fox. Why does that name sound familiar?"
"Isn't he the guy that Ellen used to tell stories about back at the Roadhouse?" Sam asked.
"Yeah," Dean answered. "Supposedly, he killed, like, five wendigos in a night."
I nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, he was a hunter. I met him in Sioux Falls, years ago. Back when my dad was still alive. He came to us for help. He was chasing a pack of ghouls. He'd pass through every once in a while after that. After the zombie invasion, I introduced him to Jody, knowing that he could help train her when we couldn't, because of the whole running-from-leviathans thing."
